Opus: Vancouver-made ready-to-drink Zero Proof Cocktails

Opus has created a cocktail in a can that empowers drinkers to choose a drink that fits their mood and preference in the moment.

As a mom, I definitely ordered a lot of non-alcoholic beverages when I was pregnant. I really wanted a drink, but responsibilities.

Created by an Internationally award-winning team and founded by Christos Kalaitzis, Opus is a ready-to-drink handcrafted cocktail that features high quality, all naturally crafted flavours and real ingredients, available in both alcohol and alcohol-free variations. Inspiration behind the non-alcohol cocktails came when he was behind the bar noticing more and more patrons asking for non-alcoholic drinks disguised as alcoholic drinks, and he wanted to create an option that was better than sugary sodas, water and lime.

Kalaitzis decided on the two Opus cocktails after surveying top bars and mixologists in Vancouver on the most popular and most ordered drinks.

Opus is available in two flavours and in both alcohol and alcohol-free variations.

Gin and Tonic

This is a refreshing Spanish-style gin & tonic, handcrafted aromatic bitters made with real spices and notes of fresh cucumber, blood orange, lime and fresh mint leaves. Solid taste and the alcoholic and non-alcoholic tastes pretty much identical.

Aperitivo Spritz

This has a unique bittersweet European aperitivo with notes of fresh seville oranges, grapefruit, rhubarb, handcrafted aromatic bitters made with real spices and Prosecco. A good balance of flavours to remind us of the hot Summers day even when we are working from home.

Final Thoughts

It’s great that Opus cocktails have zero sugar, zero carbs, low calories, gluten-free, and the choice of alcohol-free. Another great option for those opting out of alcoholic beverages for whatever reason and it tastes just the same.

Of the two drinks, we preferred the gin and tonic as we didn’t like the aftertaste of the Aperitivo Spritz.

I tried the OPUS Gin and Tonic, and it tasted like a sewer exploded in my mouth. Terrible aftertaste of aspertame, and unbelievable sadness to the tastebuds. I give your review a -10.

    • I’m with you. I tried the Aperitivo Spritz and not only was the flavour bad, the fake sweetener aftertaste was worse. Had to dump it out, terrible, avoid!

  2. They have very poor customer service. I never received my order and they blame Canada post without even checking with their supplier. They even said it’s not their responsibility once it leaves their facility. I even have the tracking number that shows that Canada post never scan the label for pick-up yet either. They are just a lazy company.
