The popular family of Kinton Ramen restaurants is making a splash and adding new seasonally inspired food and drink features to the menu at its UBCNorth Vancouver and soon-to-open third location in Surrey this summer.

Kinton Ramen opened its first West Coast restaurant at UBC at 6111 University Blvd. in 2022 and added a second location on the North Shore at #105 – 1325 Lonsdale Avenue in North Vancouver earlier this spring, while the new Surrey location will open its doors in the King George hub at #103 – 13639 George Junction in the coming weeks.

Developed by Kinton Ramen Executive Chef Aki Urata, the new summer additions to the menu include:

  • Chilled Tsukemen (cold thick noodles tossed in sesame oil and sesame seeds, topped with pork shoulder, seasoned egg and shredded nori, served with a side of house-made dipping sauce, grated daikon, wasabi and scallions);
  • Yuzu Chicken or Tofu Sunshine Bowl (brothless cold noodles tossed in yuzu dressing and sesame oil, topped with chicken breast or fried bean curd, onsen tamago, arugula, edamame, sweet corn, seaweed, pickled red ginger, side of spicy Japanese mustard);
  • Spicy Beef Mazemen (brothless ramen with thick noodles tossed in original sauce, topped with beef, home-made spicy kimupeño, onsen tamago, sweet corn, arugula, white onion, Kizami nori, chili powder);

Four new beverages made in house and guaranteed to tempt tastebuds and quench summer thirsts also make their debut on the summer menu: sweet and refreshing Lychee Iced Tea, bold and vibrant Blue Raspberry Lemonade, tart and tangy Pomegranate Lemonade, and the zesty, effervescent Lemon Radler (Sapporo infused with house-made lemonade, available for dine-in only).

Fans of Kinton’s original hearty ramen (slow-cooked pork or chicken broth in Original, Shoyu, Miso, Spicy Garlic and Spicy Jalapeño) and vegetarian (plant-based broth in Original, Veg Shoyu, Veg Miso and Veg Spicy) bowls can still find their favourites on the menu at all locations. Each selection is served with a choice of thick, thin or shirataki noodles and finished with traditional and modern toppings like bamboo shoots, wood ear mushrooms, Swiss cheese, nori, and sweet corn.

Founded by Toronto’s Kinka Family in 2012, Kinton Ramen has earned critical acclaim for its chef-driven Japanese ramen dishes, which feature rich and flavourful broth paired with fresh, high-quality ingredients.
