KFC Taiwan: 黑糖白玉Q蛋撻 Brown Sugar Mochi Egg Tart Review

I get really excited when I visit American Fast Food chains in Asia because they have a different menu. Some of these items are amazing and you would never find them in North America.

My friend told me to check out KFC in Taiwan and I stumbled upon their Brown Sugar Mochi Egg Tart. They do have regular egg tarts on the menu, but I couldn’t leave until I got this version with brown sugar and mochi.

For a country that is known for their brown sugar bubble tea, I had to try this. One piece costs $35NT, which is roughly $1.50 Canadian. I went to the Ximending location in Taipei, which has a great location, but located on the 2nd floor, so there are stairs. Good thing the baby wasn’t with me or else I wouldn’t have made it up there.

Between the egg tart shell and the filling was the brown sugar syrup. The egg tart is also topped with more brown sugar and 2 pieces of elongated mochi. I thought the brown sugar was a bit too much and made it overly sweet. The mochi looked hard, but when I picked it up, it was very soft, which was great.

I love the concept of it, but I could only have so much Brown Sugar Mochi Egg Tart before I get overloaded with sugar.

Fun item to try, but I wouldn’t get it a second time.
