I have been a fan of Boursin especially the garlic and fine herbs Gournay cheese, but whenever there is a plant-based alternative that comes into the marketplace, I need to give it a try. They were able to send me a few to give it a try to see how it compares.
Whether you are having a gathering or just making a little charcuterie board for yourself, you can make Boursin Dairy-Free part of that platter. They have been able to recreate the taste and creamy texture of the original dairy-based Boursin. It is a great option for flexitarians, vegans or people looking to reduce their dairy intake.
Boursin Dairy-Free is great for those who have different dietary restrictions or just looking to make a change in their diet. Take note, Boursin Dairy-Free is:
- Plant-based certified
- Made with organic coconut oil
- Dairy-free, nut-free, gluten-free and soya-free
- Non-GMO
- No artificial colours or flavours
- Kosher certified
Taste Test
I am a flexitarian, so if it tastes great and the price is right, I’ll definitely consider adding more plant-based products into my life. I’ve essentially cut out a majority of dairy and replaced it with oat mylk.
I took the Boursin Dairy-Free and spread it on crackers and then sprinkled some fresh chives on top. It has the same crumbly texture but stay intact. There is a strong taste of the garlic, parsley, and chives, which is true to taste. If I did a blindfold test, I don’t think I would be able to taste the difference. Even though it is made with organic coconut oil, I didn’t taste a trace of coconut.
They did a great job and I would get this again.
Final Thoughts
Overall, it’s a great plant-based alternative that is near indistinguishable to the original Boursin. It’ll be interesting to see if there will be more flavours in the future.
You can find Boursin Dairy-free at most grocery stores across Canada. Besides being in grocery stores, plant-based restaurant chain Copper Branch is now offering it on a bagel as part of their new all-day breakfast menu. There is one on Nelson Street in Downtown Vancouver.
