I always pass by Hastings and I see this relatively new sushi place called Volcano Sushi & Grill. It has quite a strong name, but I was wanting to cure my curiosity of this place, so M and I decided to head here for some Linner (Lunch/Dinner). It’s not owned by Japanese or Koreans….but Chinese. Certain dishes can have a bit of a Chinese twist to them.
I gotta have tea with everything, I’m a bit of an addict. As I write this review, I’m drinking tea.
Deep Fried Cheese Wonton ($3.50) was crispy of the outside and on the inside, it didn’t taste like deep fried cheese. The mixture reminded me of clam chowder for some reason… but thicker. I didn’t like it, but M did.
Spicy Tuna and Salmon Sashimi ($10.50) was different from the usual places. As you look at the color and the sauce they used, it is different. It tasted spicier and had a good kick!
Volcano Roll ($3.95) has tuna, imitation crab, cucumber with mayo and spicy sauce then it’s deep fried. The roll was quite cute and tasted good.
American Roll ($8.95) has crab meat, Eel, Avocado, Cheese with Spicy Tuna on top. Not very american, but it was also really good. You wouldn’t think cheese would go well with this, but it really wasn’t bad at all.
Overall, they have a good selection of rolls with decent prices. I felt that some items were a hit and miss.
Words of Wisdom:
- Mediocre service
- Lots of Booth Seating
- Free parking in front
- Good lunch and Dinner combos

I love sushi…but I wouldn’t want to try this place at all if I didn’t read any reviews. The banner & logo designs are so……ORZ!!!
