SunRype: Sparkling Teas Review

SunRype has launched their new line of sparkling teas in stores across Western Canada. I was in my local grocery store and didn’t realize they started selling these sparkling teas. I thought they only did juices and snacks. Apparently, they launched these back in 2017.

There are 4 flavours of sparkling teas in 355ml cans:

  • Black Tea with a Twist of Lemon
  • Green Tea with Honey Lemon
  • Black Tea with Mango and Peach
  • Rooibos Tea with Raspberry

All 4 made with real brewed tea, natural flavours, real cane sugar, and is carbonated.

Green Tea with Honey Lemon

Upon first taste, the honey and lemon definitely stand out and the green tea lingers in the background. This reminded me of Arizona Iced Tea but with carbonation. It was ok, but it was still more sweet and fruity instead of a bold green tea finish.

Black Tea with a Twist of Lemon

This is essentially lemon tea with a sweet black tea finish. As the black tea is strong than green tea, you can taste it more in the drink. This as our favourite of the four flavours.

Black Tea with Mango and Peach

The black tea is paired with the sweetness of mango and peach. The mango and peach were strong and definitely sweet. The black tea is masked and has a tangy aftertaste from the fruit.

Rooibos Tea with Raspberry

This was our least favourite as the beverage reminded us of hawthorn candies in Asia. I was never really a fan of rooibos teas. Rooibos is naturally caffeine-free, so if you’re afraid of the caffeine content, this might be an option for you.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the drinks aren’t bad but I personally prefer stronger tea flavour. The introduction of sparkling teas are good and is refreshing in the Summer. My favourite flavour is the Black Tea with a Twist of Lemon. If they made this in a larger bottle, I’d consider getting this.
