Tim Hortons: Beyond Meat Breakfast Menu Review

Tim Hortons in Canada just launched their new Beyond Meat Breakfast items on the menu at almost 4,000 Tim Hortons restaurants nationwide. With vegan and vegetarian options, it’s great to give customers more options. Beyond Meat has made it big in the fast food scene, first with A&W and now with Tim Hortons in Canada. You can even find Beyond Meat burgers in grocery stores too. The patty has the texture of a beef patty, well spiced and 100% plant based with no animal meat.

I was pretty excited to see Tim Hortons offering these 3 items on the breakfast menu – Beyond Meat Egg & Cheese, Beyond Sausage Farmer’s Wrap, and Beyond Sausage Lettuce Tomato.

When I heard they had it, I rushed to Tim Hortons to grab these items to do a taste test with 4 others and write this review.

Beyond Sausage Egg & Cheese

The Beyond Sausage Egg & Cheese has Beyond Breakfast Sausage patty, fluffy egg omelette and a slice of processed cheese. It is served on a freshly toasted and buttered English Muffin. You can alternatively have this on a Homestyle Biscuit or toasted Bagel.

Decent breakfast item and can’t go wrong. I do prefer it with a real egg and cheddar instead of the Tim Hortons egg omelette and processed cheese. A&W is still better for this as they use real egg and real cheddar compared to Tim Hortons.

Beyond Sausage Farmer’s Wrap

The Beyond Sausage Farmer’s Wrap is made with Beyond Breakfast Sausage patty, hash brown, egg omelette, creamy chipotle sauce and a slice of cheddar cheese. It is wrapped in a tortilla and grilled to order.

I really liked this the most as it has a little bit of everything for a breakfast wrap. With the saltiness and spices from the Beyond Meat Sausage, you can barely notice that it doesn’t have meat.

A very hearty breakfast option and the most expensive at $5.29. Prices do vary from location to location.

Beyond Sausage Lettuce Tomato

This is an entirely vegan offering, the Beyond Sausage Lettuce Tomato starts with a toasted homestyle biscuit that is topped with the savoury 100% plant-based Beyond Breakfast Sausage patty, crisp lettuce and fresh cut tomato.

It’s good to see the fresh Romaine lettuce and tomato in this but the texture of the veggies do take away from the sandwich. Nonetheless, it’s still a good breakfast sandwich with lots of textures. The homestyle biscuit was good too. It’s the least salty out of the 3 options and you can taste more of the beans in the Beyond Meat sausage patty.

Final Thoughts

Overall, all 3 items are decent for fast food vegetarian and vegan options. The Beyond Meat sausage patty is generally salty so it’s pretty hard to determine what mysterious ‘patty’ it is but the texture is on point and will trick meat eaters.

The Tim Hortons Beyond Meat breakfast sandwiches and wrap isn’t for everyone so don’t expect an amazing breakfast as it is still fast food. If you are a regular Tim Hortons customer, it’s good to have the extra choice to go meatless. If you are a vegetarian or vegan, it’s great that you aren’t limited to choices when you are at Tim Hortons.

  1. You’re mistaken. Nothing Tim’s serves are suitable for vegetarians and definitely not vegans. They use the same grill (and grease) for their Beyond Meat burgers as they do for animal versions.
