On May 17, 2014, it is Tim Horton’s 50th birthday and they are celebrating by giving away a Birthday Cake Donut at all their locations. If you still haven’t gotten on yet, you still have a few hours to go!
This particular Birthday Cake donut has not been available in Canada as a regular donut, but has just been released in the states in timbit form. The birthday cake donut resembles an old fashion. It has the glaze around it and also rainbow sprinkles inside. It is exactly like confetti cake. Perhaps it will make an appearance on the Canadian menu after this?
You can see the sprinkles more clearly when you begin biting in to the donut. I thought the donut was overly sweet and hard to finish. It would have been easier if I had some coffee to balance out the sweetness.
It was a nice treat to get when visiting Tim Hortons today. Even thought the donut didn’t live up to my weird imaginations, it was great that it was free. The staff at the Metropolis location were super cheerful and had crazy hats on to celebrate the 50th year of Tim Hortons.
