McDonalds Shamrock Shake

Before going to class, M and I stopped by McDonalds. Once a year near St. Patricks day, McDonalds offers their Shamrocks shakes.

The shamrock shake is a mint version of the usual milkshake, thus the green flavour. It was first developed in the 1970’s and is still here to this day. They make this milk shake by adding mint syrup with vanilla ice cream.

At first glance, the Shamrock Shake was not as green as I would have imagined. Just a pale green color. Anything that looks a bit abnormal in color is probably created by food coloring.

When I took my first sip, it tasted like a mint chocolate aero bar. Sweet, milky with a hint of mint flavour. I am not a big fan of milkshakes but it was bearable to drink. The Shamrock shake is a great seasonal item, but the aftertaste is not the most pleasant.

If you want to try this out, it’s available now till the end of March.
