BC Children’s Hospital Foundation today announced that they will receive 100 per cent of the proceeds of every Smile Cookie sold at select Tim Hortons locations across Metro Vancouver during the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign that runs from Sept. 19 through to Sept. 25, 2022. Each cookie costs $1, plus tax, and can be purchased at any Tim Hortons restaurant, or by placing an order through the Tim Hortons mobile app for delivery.

Smile Cookies are made from Tim Hortons’s chocolate chunk cookies and are hand-decorated specially for the Smile Cookie campaign. 128 Tim Hortons stores across British Columbia have selected BC Children’s Hospital Foundation as their Smile Cookie partner to support. In 2021, the Smile Cookie campaign raised $168,999.57 for BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.

“Each year, BC Children’s Hospital provides specialized care to more than 138,000 kids throughout the province. The community support we receive from passionate partners like Tim Hortons is essential in our work to overcome childhood illnesses and improve the lives of countless kids and families. We are grateful to everyone who adds a little sweetness to their day, or someone else’s, with the purchase of a Smile Cookie this week,” said Rita Thodos, Vice President of Philanthropy at BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. “Proceeds raised from campaigns like Smile Cookie go directly towards ground-breaking research, state-of-the-art technology, and programs that support clinical care, to ensure that sick and injured children across B.C. receive the best care possible – ultimately helping more kids get back to being kids.”

“Tim Hortons restaurant owners and staff are excited for the 26th annual Smile Cookie campaign. It is a fun initiative, and it is wonderful to see the smiles both on the cookies, and the customers’ faces when they purchase a Smile Cookie knowing that 100 per cent of the proceeds go towards incredible organizations like BC Children’s Hospital Foundation,” said Ben Yip, Regional Marketing Manager, BC & Yukon, Tim Hortons. “Tim Hortons Smile Cookie has raised over $77 million across North America since 1996 and last year alone raised a record $12 million.”

“We’re excited to participate in the 26th annual Smile Cookie campaign. It’s such a pleasure to partner with BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, a local hospital that does such impactful work and the only hospital in the province devoted exclusively to the care of children,” said Fred Melin, Tim Hortons Restaurant Owner in Vancouver. “Our team members craft each Smile Cookie with care and are proud to serve them to guests who come in throughout the week to support such a great cause.”

The annual Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign supports 665 charities and community groups across Canada. The first Smile Cookie campaign was launched in 1996, originally raising funds for Hamilton Children’s Hospital. Since then, the annual charitable campaign supports local hospitals, community care organizations, food banks and schools.
