The Donut King, SxSW Winning Documentary Streaming only at select donut shops across Canada

The Donut King, is the truth is crazier than fiction, rags to riches to rags story of Ted Ngoy, a Cambodian refugee who built an empire of donut shops in LA so successful that he kept Dunkin’ Donuts out of the market.   Ngoy also mentored, employed and supported thousands of fellow immigrants starting life in the U.S.  The Donut King is directed by Alice Gu and won Special Jury Recognition for Achievement in Documentary Storytelling at the South by Southwest2020 festival this spring.

Indie distributors are seeking alternatives to reach audiences during the pandemic, and Films We Like is serving up The Donut King with a twist – instead of partnering with cinemas, The Donut King is available to stream via top artisan donut (or, doughnut) shops across Canada.
