Smitty’s Oyster House on Main Street will gather some of BC’s best shuckers together to raise money for good cause when it hosts the inaugural ‘Shuck ‘n’ Roll’ event at the Mount Pleasant seafood house (3125 Main Street) on Thursday, February 29.

The event kicks off at 5 p.m. and sees two-person teams from Smitty’s Oyster House in Gibsons and its sister restaurant on Main Street, Harbour Oyster + Bar, Rodney’s Oyster HouseChewie’s Smoke & Oyster Bar and Fanny Bay Oyster Bar put their shucking skills to the test to raise funds for the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation and its mission to provide the best, most specialized care for all British Columbians.

The event is being organized by Smitty’s Oyster House on Main Street General Manager Shane Laird and owner Matthew Thompson, who received a liver transplant at Vancouver General Hospital in September 2022 and has launched a fundraising page to help purchase new lifesaving equipment and fund patient care programs for VGH’s Solid Organ Transplant Unit.
