As tourism reignites in the resort community of Whistler, Tourism Whistler has launched the new Go Whistler Tours app to help introduce visitors to the destination’s unique experiences and off-the-beaten path locations.

Go Whistler Tours is a free app visitors can download to access fun and informative self-guided tours. The app has been designed to help visitors to discover a new side of Whistler so that they can form a deeper, more meaningful connection with the resort. During the pandemic, consumers have moved toward online channels and there has been rapid adoption of technology and digital services. This new app enables visitors to enhance their resort experience through DIY exploration of various routes and points of interest.

“We’re extremely excited to share this new platform with our visitors as we welcome back travellers,” says Kirsten Homeniuk, Vice President of Marketing at Tourism Whistler. “Whistler has so much to offer and this new app is our way of guiding visitors to adventure deeper. Our new Go Whistler Tours have been designed to connect visitors with Whistler’s rich history, vibrant arts and culture, and surrounding nature.”

With BC officially in Step 3 of the province’s Restart Plan and tourism returning to the resort, Tourism Whistler’s visitor research indicates travellers will continue to value physical distancing and will be prioritizing wide-open spaces and less populated areas. The Go Whistler Tours apps provides visitors with the opportunity to find more space by venturing outside of the resort’s Village core.

The Go Whistler Tours app currently features four self-guided tours designed in partnership with the Resort Municipality of Whistler’s interpretive panel project, including: The Fitzsimmons Creek Accessible Nature Trail (Whistler’s first fully accessible nature trail), Natural Wonders, Whistler’s Cultural Connector, and History & Heritage: Whistler from 1914 – 1965. In alignment with Whistler’s sustainability goals, all tours are accessible, and best enjoyed, by foot, bike, or E-bike. Additional tours are in development and will continue to be added regularly through app updates, including new seasonal-specific tours, food and drink content and arts and culture tours in the fall, winter and spring.

The Go Whistler Tours app is available now and free to download on the Apple App Store and Google Play. Go Whistler Tours can also be viewed in a web browser at Go Whistler Tours.
