Mijune Pak x Buttermere Patisserie: Chouxpi Collection

Beloved Canadian food personality and public figure, Mijune Pak, has teamed up with forward-thinking pastry chef and owner of Buttermere Patisserie, Jamie Tung, to launch a playful, travel-inspired French confection collection this Saturday, June 26th. Fondly named Chouxpi, pronounced “shoo-P”, the duo’s whimsical creation features pâte à choux pastries filled with a rich pastry cream garnished with crunchy crumb topping

“Jamie’s knack for combining traditional French methods with Asian ingredients to develop unique yet relatable flavours have always stood out to me. I knew collaborating with her would provide an avenue for me, being Canadian-born Chinese, to take memories from both cultures and apply them to a creation relatable to many others,” beams Mijune.

Both avid travellers pre-pandemic, travel is where they draw their inspiration. “During the brainstorming process, Mijune described her concept: crispy, crunchy éclairs she once tried in Tokyo and still think about to date. I remember trying something similar in Taiwan before,” says Jamie. “Working with Mijune on the development process, specifically the execution of the textures and flavours nostalgic to her, has been invigorating and creatively fulfilling. We are excited to share our final product, the Chouxpi collection, sprinkled with Mijune and Buttermere flair.”

Determined to bring forward a product that not only showcases their fun-loving personalities but also appreciates the classic and traditional simplicities of French pastries, Mijune and Jamie are releasing six #MijunexButtermere Chouxpi flavours curated by Mijune: horchata speculoos, Vietnamese egg coffee, guava passion fruit, Hong Kong milk tea, cereal milk, and classic vanilla bean three ways.

The #MijunexButtermere Chouxpi treats can be purchased either as the full collection, a box of 6 with one of each flavour for $30, or in a box of 4 with your flavours of choice for $20. Available starting Saturday, June 26th, the collection will be available first come, first served at Buttermere Café with limited online pre-orders. The first twenty customers to make a purchase in-person at Buttermere Café on June 26th will also take home a box personally signed by Mijune plus a $15 off offer for a future purchase at Buttermere.

To kickoff this exclusive collaboration, Buttermere Café will be hosting a physically-distanced meet and greet with Mijune and Jamie Sunday, June 27th from 1pm to 3pm. The #MijunexButtermere Chouxpi collection is available for pre-order online for pick-up in-store at Buttermere Café (636 Main Street) every Wednesday to Sunday from June 26th to July 11th.
