Today the Calgary Farmers’ Market is excited to announce the grand opening of Calgary Farmers’ Market West (CFM West). This second location will provide Calgary with more access to local goods and fresh ingredients.

Located across the street from WinSport (25 Greenbriar Drive NW) in Calgary’s Greenwich community, CFM West will be hailed as a seminal landmark for international travellers and locals alike, providing a destination for community to make connections, visitors to discover authentic Alberta food and drink, and for local makers, bakers, and growers to flourish.

“We couldn’t be more excited about the opening of our second location that will forever change our city and how people view Calgary from a tourism perspective,” said Stacey Petropoulos, general manager of Calgary Farmers’ Market. “This beautiful building will offer al-fresco style shopping and dining that will support the local economy like no other place in the city.”

In its construction phase alone, CFM West employed 350 people and it set to provide more than 200 year-round jobs while supporting local ranches, farms, orchards, kitchens, and studios. CFM West will be a boon for the local economy while offering a platform for burgeoning musicians and artists and supporting local charities, all while giving community a place to gather and connect.

“Our mission is to support the progress and growth of small local businesses,” said Stacey Petropoulos. “We want Calgary to continue growing into a vibrant and diverse city, and when small local businesses thrive, so does our local economy.”

Building off the “hidden gem” success of Calgary Farmers’ Market South, CFM West will house 67 local and regional businesses including community favourites like Innisfail Growers, Going Nuts, Gull Valley Growers, Silk Road Spice Merchant, Phil & Sebastian, Yum Bakery and many more.

The building was designed by Stantec for Melcor Developments Calgary and the interior was designed by architects Riddell Kurczaba. CFM West will be unique to the Prairies, transporting visitors to the streets of old New York with a hearty taste of the Rocky Mountain spirit. Ideally situated just 15-minutes from downtown Calgary, and one hour from the Rocky Mountains just off the TransCanada Highway, CFM West is the perfect boundary outpost for every excursion to Banff National Park, Kananaskis and west, to stock up with locally made and grown supplies and provisions for the journey home.

CFM West will operate year-round, Wednesday through Saturday 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
