Patio weather has been slow in coming this year, but Slim’s BBQ has put the time to good work, building a sunny new deck and creating a brand-new brunch menu which quietly launched on the May long weekend. Like the new dinner and late-night menu which arrived earlier this spring, the new brunch menu offers Southern-style dishes built around locally sourced ingredients and features a host of vegan and vegetarian choices.
Breakfast tacos are nearly a religion in Austin, Texas and Slim’s BBQ offers them two delicious ways: the South Congress Vegan with Blue Heron cheese, vegan eggs, and housemade toppings, or Slim’s BBQ signature style, with slow-cooked Barbacoa Beef.
Southern Cornbread & Eggs is a distinctly Texan twist on the classic Benny with cornbread and Slim’s Queso replacing the English muffin and Hollandaise. La Fonda Chilaquiles is a vegan twist on the classic Mexican breakfast with scrambled vegan eggs, onions, and red sauce on top of corn tortillas. Other can’t miss options include a Maple Waffle & Golden Fried Chicken, Vegan Breakfast Sando, and a 63 Acres Breakfast Burger.
To wash it all down, the brunch Hooch options have a distinctly Southern twang, with housemade Spiked Sweet Tea, Micheladas, Mt. Pleasant Lemonade with bourbon, and Smoky BBQ Caesars. Given that Texas is a little more freewheeling when it comes to fun, Slim’s BBQ has added a morning Happy Hour from 10am-noon. It features deals on mimosas, shots, and Kafka’s Coffee to take the edge off last night, and Austin Veggie Hash to fuel up for the day ahead.
