Celebrate the holiday season this year with help from Goldilocks Bake Shop (Goldilocks). The beloved Filipino food destination has launched a new Christmas Collection, now ready for pre-orders. Guests can choose for a wide variety of sweet and savoury options, including two whole ham feasts, cakes, rainbow jello, and festive gingerbread houses.

In addition, Goldilocks is participating in the special “Maligayang Pasko, Vancouver” event on December 17, 2022. Hosted by the Philippine Consulate, the whole community is invited to partake in the festivities from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St Patrick’s Church (2881 Main Street) in Mount Pleasant.

“Christmas is a very important time of year for Goldilocks, and we make sure to pull out all the stops,” says Maj Yee, managing director of Goldilocks Bake Shop Canada. “We have many returning customers who order specific dishes and treats as an annual tradition. We are thrilled to continue offering the classics, while creating new Filipino-West Coast options for people to gift and enjoy. This year, I’m especially proud of our contemporary gingerbread houses, as well as new retro cakes – perfect for a fun celebration with friends and family.”

This year, in addition to several a la carte savoury dishes, guests can choose between two Goldilocks Christmas Feasts (from $110; feeds 4-6 people), both featuring whole Filipino-style glazed ham and Embotido (meatloaf) with choice of palabok (rice noodle), spaghetti, or miki sotanghon (vermicelli). Options include lumpiang Shanghai (egg roll), empanada, mini fresh lumpia, and mini barbecue.

Yee’s famous gingerbread houses start from $22 and come in four sizes, from small to large. This year, designs include a Gingerbread Birdhouse, Gingerbread Townhouse, and Gingerbread Cottage, and a Gingerbread Mansion. Each gingerbread house can take up to 72 hours to make and assemble, depending on the intricacy of the design – a true work of art and labour of love. Limited quantities are available while supplies last.

New for this year are Goldilocks Retro Cakes (from $50), featuring buttercream ribbon art and icing in various colours and flavours, including chocolate, marble (chocolate and vanilla swirl), mocha, ube (purple yam), and vanilla.

All classic Goldilocks desserts are available for pre-orders and walk-in customers. These include: a beautiful Crema de Fruta with layers of vanilla sponge cake, Bavarian cream and mixed fruits topped with peaches and cherries and set in a transparent gelatin; a Native Kakanin, which consists of ube biko, sapin-sapin, Cuchinta and cassava; Leche Flan, a creme caramel with Spanish-inspired flavours; the nostalgic Cathedral Window Jello, featuring a creamy rainbow gelatin with chunks of multi-flavoured pieces of jello; and Mamon, a soft and fluffy sponge cake in a variety of flavours, including cheese, ube, and mocha.

“The holiday season is a time of togetherness – for loved ones to rejoice and enjoy a good meal together,” adds Yee. “We are thankful to be part of so many households during this time of year.”
