Fable Diner & Bar: Opening New Location In Downtown Vancouver Early 2022

One of Vancouver’s favorite family-friendly restaurants and favorite farm to table restaurants are expanding their footprint as Fable Diner & Fable Kitchen announce plans to open a new downtown location in the new year. Almost ten years after launching the first location in Kitsilano May 2012 and Five years after launching in Mount Pleasant’s historic Lee Building, The Fable Family is once again breathing new life into one of the city’s heritage properties with the opening of a third outpost at Vancouver’s landmark Kingston Hotel building at 755 Richards Street.   Fable Diner & Bar will occupy two 1/2 floors of the historic Kingston Hotel. Widely known as Vancouver’s Best Budget Boutique Hotel, the iconic downtown property was first built in 1910 and is currently undergoing renovations with plans to reopen in spring 2022.   

Slated to open its doors in five stages in early 2022, Fable Diner & Bar will offer brunch, Happy Hour, dinner and late-night eats for dine-in, take-out and delivery throughout the week. The restaurant menus will showcase Fable’s signature creative approach to classic diner fare featuring all-day breakfast options, elevated brunch, a new pizza and wings menu for the bar, While in the dining room they will feature some of Fable Kitchen’s favorite dishes like the duck meatball and more. Nostalgic desserts, craft cocktails, and featuring over  15 local craft beers on tap.   

The new restaurant concept will offer seating for a total of 278 guests across a main floor dining room, upstairs bar, and two private dining areas, which include an intimate wine room for 12 and a function space with a bar that can be reserved for private parties of up to 100. During the warm-weather season, seating will be available for an additional 80 guests on the restaurant’s upper and lower patios, which will be decked in eye-catching outdoor features like a water fountain and tropical palm trees.  

Fable Diner’s downtown menu will offer a similar lineup of elevated comfort foods as the original location, including all-day-breakfast and imaginative brunch dishes, sandwiches and smash burgers, fresh vegan and vegetarian options, and the as-seen-on-TV Roast Duck Pancakes featured on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.

Guests will also be able to enjoy a new evening menu of flavourful chicken wings, salads, fries, and an original lineup of pizzas available exclusively at the Richards St. location. Signature 12-inch pies will come in classic varieties like Margarita and Pepperoni in addition to specialty styles like an East Coast-style Donair pizza and a Pleasant Bowl pizza (inspired by Fable’s popular vegan dish of the same name) topped with cauliflower, mushrooms, kale and potato.  

To drink, Fable Diner & Bar will serve up a creative variety of spirit-free beverages and boozy libations, including creamy diner-style milkshakes, home-brewed sodas in refreshing flavours (ginger beer, honey peach, strawberry, and mango), evening cocktails, and signature draft beers developed in partnership with local breweries.  

“We can’t wait to introduce Fable’s signature diner fare to downtown Vancouver with the opening of our new location this fall,” says Fable Diner owner Ron MacGillivray, who will oversee front-of-house operations for the new venture. “Our team is working hard look to expand the Fable concept in our new historic space at the Kingston Hotel, and we look forward to welcoming guests both old and new when we open in 2022.”  

Fable Diner & Bar will be open daily for brunch from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Happy Hour service from 2:30 to 5 p.m. The evening bar and pizza menu will be available for delivery and takeout exclusively through Fable’s proprietary Focal Eats platform on Tuesday to Saturday from 5 p.m. to midnight. Dinner will be served at the restaurant Thursday to Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m. with late-night food and drinks offered from 10 p.m. to midnight.
