Covert Farms Family Estate is officially open for the season! And there’s plenty for visitors to look forward to. Over the next few months, the winery will host a series of family-friendly celebrations, including weekly live music, Mother’s Day festivities, and a dazzling lineup of tours and tastings.

First on the roster is Mother’s Day, taking place Sunday, May 8 – the same day the winery will debut the return of Live Music Sundays. Visitors can enjoy an afternoon performance by Okanagan Valley singer-songwriter Mandy Cole, alongside campfire cookouts – with hot dogs, smokies and s’mores on offer – paired with Covert Farms wine and organic juice by the glass. Mom and grandma, the day’s VIPs, will be gifted with a cheerful tomato plant to take home.

Live Music Sundays continue for the rest of the season, with musical performances by a diverse array of BC acts (shows take place 1pm – 4pm). Highlights include Sean Peterson, formerly of the band Great White North, who plays classic and contemporary covers; Clanna Morna Celtic folk band, whose sound is rooted in traditional Irish, Scottish and English music; and Broke Down Trucks, which cranks out rock ‘n roll tunes perfect for a leisurely day at the farm. See the full lineup through October 30 here.

Covert Farms’ Campfire Cookouts, which debuted in fall 2021, are returning by popular demand. The flavour-packed fête offers guests their own private firepit alongside a ready-to-grill kit that contains Two Rivers organic hot dogs or smokies, fresh buns, condiments – including Covert Farms’ housemade salsa, as well as ketchup, mustard and relish – plus a s’mores kit and paleta. Adults will be treated to wine, while kiddos can sip on locally made organic juice. The two-hour experience includes ample time to enjoy farm games and the jumping pillow, and will be available in spring and fall.

Of course, guests are welcome to pop by the farm anytime for a day of outdoor fun. Fun at the Farm general admission includes access to a self-guided farm tour, where resident sheep, rams, llamas and Delilah the potbellied pig are eager to meet-and-greet; farm games, including the jumping pillow; and live music on Sundays. Seasonal refreshments include wine by the glass and charcuterie boards (with vegetarian and gluten-free options available), as well as campfire cookout goodies on the weekends. Fun on the Farm admission costs $10 per adult, and $5 per child (ages 3-18).

Visitors are welcome to book an add-on experience to their existing reservation, including kid-friendly tastings and tours. Adventures include guided mini-walking tours to meet the resident farm animals and learn about the important roles they each play on the farm (available weekends in June, and Wednesday to Sunday starting July 1); and a tasting of locally made organic juices alongside an artisanal cheese and charcuterie board.

“We’re thrilled that people are showing such a strong interest in sustainable farming, and we look forward to reopening our doors and sharing our own passion for regenerative farming and viticulture with guests,” said Gene Covert, co-owner. “We are always looking for ways to expand and improve our farm experiences, and we’re particularly proud of the lineup we have this year.”

“We have received such incredible feedback about our family-friendly educational tours and tastings,” said Shelly Covert, co-owner. “The Kids’ Mini Farm Tour, in particular, is now one of the most booked experiences at the farm – it’s a great way for parents to relax and sample Covert Farms wine while their kids learn where their food comes from.”

Covert Farms is open Wednesday to Sunday, 11am to 5pm.
