I absolutely love Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, so when I saw the Reese Puffs cereal by General Mills, I had to give it a try. How can the chocolate and peanut butter combination go wrong? Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups were my favourite Halloween candy. When kids would want to trade them away, I would take them all.

Where and how much?

I found this at Superstore for $2.97, but you can find this at most grocery stores across Canada. I find that prices do vary as well, but if you get it around the $3 mark, that’s pretty good.

What’s Inside?

Inside the box, you will find 1 x 326g pouch of Reese Puffs cereal.

Taste Test

When I opened the box, there was a nice peanut butter fragrance coming from the bag. As I poured the milk into the bowl, the puffs didn’t become soggy too fast.

There is a strong peanut taste with the subtle chocolate aroma. Each bite was crunchy but I find that it was quite sweet. The after taste was very sweet and made the back of my throat feel funny.

Final Thoughts

Overall, fun concept for a cereal, but it was a bit too sweet for me. I wished there was more chocolate flavour to balance the stronger peanut butter taste.

This special edition Cheerios was released in a coconut flavour. I’ve noticed that they have released so many different flavours recently like peanut butter and blueberry. A lot of people messaged me to go try out the coconut Cheerios and report back. Of course, I was curious, so I grabbed a box.

Where and how much?

I got this at Superstore for $2.97 a box. You can also find this at most major grocery stores like Wal-Mart as well.

What’s Inside?

Inside, you will find 1 x 309g bag of Coconut Cheerios inside.

Taste Test

I opened the box and there wasn’t too much of an aroma until you really stick your head into the box.

When I added milk to the bowl with the coconut Cheerios, the coating of the coconut flavour is just on the exterior surface of the cheerio. The taste is like sweet artificial coconut. I really didn’t like it. It’s hard to really get the essence of coconut into cereal format and it didn’t work for me. I wouldn’t get it again. It wouldn’t even go well as a snack without milk.

Final Thoughts

Overall, this gets a big nope from me. You can skip this unless you like sweet artificial coconut flavours.

I am a huge Nutter Butter fan and I’m glad the Nutter Butter Cereal is now in Canada. The Nutter Butter Cereal is created by Post Consumer Brands, which makes other notable cereal like Bran Flakes and Honey Comb.

Where to find them

We were able to find this at Superstore in Canada. This has been spotted at Wal-Mart as well. I’m sure this will slowly roll out to other major grocery stores in Canada too.

How much is it?

It was on sale around $3 Canadian for a 311g box of Nutter Butter Cereal at Superstore. You can also find this at Wal-Mart.

What’s inside the box?

Inside the box is a 1 x 311g pouch of Nutter Butter Cereal.

Taste Test

The Nutter Butter Cereal is shaped like little peanuts. It has a curvature to them but maybe thats because of how they were processed. When I opened the cereal, it smelled a bit funky like saw dust or glue. It really threw me off.

As I added milk and ate it up with the Nutter Butter Cereal, the classic Nutter Butter taste really shined through. It was pretty damn good. The peanut butter flavour is very dominant and not too sweet.

Final Thoughts

Overall, it’s one of my favourite cereals now since I am a Nutter Butter fan way before the cereal launched. The only downside is the smell, but other than that, once you dig in, it’s so good.

Cheerios has come out with a new flavour in Canada – blueberry. It is made with real blueberry puree. No artificial colours or flavours. It’s been a while since I last ate Cheerios, so it’s a great time to start again with a few new flavours that they’ve launched.

Blueberry is a great flavour for breakfast as it does great with pancakes, smoothies and oatmeal. Makes sense that it might just work well with cereal.

Where to find them

I found this on sale at Buy-Low Foods in Burnaby, BC, but you can find them at most major grocery stores like Superstore.

How much is it?

I found them on sale for just under $3 at both Buy-Low Foods and Superstore.

What’s inside the box?

Inside the box is the 309g box of Blueberry Cheerios.

Taste Test

When I opened the box, the smell was sweet and reminded me of Kernels Popcorn. The sweet blueberry aroma lingered as I poured it into my bowl.

The Cheerios are round but dark purple from the blueberry puree.

As I ate this with milk, it really wasn’t overly sweet which was nice. As the Blueberry Cheerios soaks in the milk as I ate it, it turned the milk blue. I also tried eating this with real blueberries and it added a nice freshness to the morning meal.

Final Thoughts

Overall, it’s an alright cereal. I didn’t love it and I didn’t hate it. It has a hint of sweetness from the blueberry coating. I was glad I tried it, but I’m not compelled to finish a few more boxes of this flavour. If you love blueberries and Cheerios, then this might just be the cereal for you.

General Mills has come up with a special edition Cinnamon Toast Crunch with a chocolate twist. Chocolate Toast Crunch is in-stores now as a special edition flavour. Cinnamon and chocolate is a great combination.

Where to find them

I got this at Superstore, but it should be available at most major grocery stores in Canada.

How much are they?

It was on sale for around $3 at Superstore.

What’s inside

Inside the box, there are 1 x 352g packet of all the Chocolate Toast Crunch.

Taste Test

It has the same shape as regular Cinnamon Toast Crunch, but this married cinnamon and chocolate together. It has a good blend of chocolate and cinnamon. I really enjoyed it.

You can have it with milk or just enjoy it as a midnight snack. Can’t go wrong with either. Just don’t leave it in milk too long or else it will go soggy.

I would recommend this!

Nutrition Facts

Final Thoughts

Overall, I enjoyed it. The second time I had it, I enjoyed it even more. It grew on me the more that I ate it. The harmony of the chocolate and cinnamon works very well together.

If you have it be itself, with milk or with yogurt, it is great. It is a tad sweet but not as much as other cereals in the market.

Post Consumer Brands makes some pretty exciting cereals on the market like the trending Tim Hortons Timbits Cereal. Another cereal that has recently launched in Canada is the Chips Ahoy! Cereal. I remember eating the Chips Ahoy! cookies as a kid, so I was excited when I saw the Chips Ahoy! Cereal in stores.

Where to find them

We were able to find this at Wal-Mart in Canada. Looking through online chatter, it seems like it’s only been spotted at Wal-Mart. I’m sure in the near future, it will slowly roll out to other major grocery stores as well.

How much is it?

$3.97 Canadian for a 340g box of Chips Ahoy! Cereal at Wal-Mart.

What’s inside the box?

Inside the box is the 340g box of Chips Ahoy! Cereal.

Taste Test

When we opened up the box, there was a very strong sweet aroma coming from the cereal. It wasn’t like cookies, but more like brown sugar and butter. Each cookies is pretty cute and has its unique pattern of chocolate chips on top.

When biting into the Chips Ahoy! Cereal, it didn’t remind me of mini cookies. It was very dehydrated and crisp like any other cereal. I wasn’t to like the Chips Ahoy! Cereal, but it missed the mark. It was ok, but it didn’t make me want to go and buy another box.

The only way to get the chips ahoy! to be less sweet is by really dunking them in milk for a while and then the cookies soak up the milk to balance out the sweet flavour.

I haven’t had Cookie Crisp cereal before, so I don’t exactly know how it compares to that one.

Nutrition Facts

Final Thoughts

Overall, I wasn’t as impressed with Chips Ahoy! Cereal. It’s fun for kids to eat mini cookies in the cereal but it really lacked the feel of a cookie.

When I was a kid, my friend and I would bake mini cookies and turn it into cereal because Cookie Crisp didn’t exist in Canada back then. It took a long time to bake, but it was so worth it.

I wouldn’t buy this again
