A&W Canada: Best Burger Ever

World-renowned Canadian chef, cookbook author, and YouTube star Matty Matheson has joined
forces with A&W Canada for an epic burger collaboration.

The new, limited-time burger brings together the two Canadian food icons known for their
commitment and passion for serving up great-tasting burgers from simple, top-quality
ingredients. The “Best-Burger-Ever” Burger, created by Matheson, features a 4oz grass-fed,
prime rib patty, real cheddar cheese, fried pickles, grilled onions, and garlic aioli on a buttery
brioche bun.

“This is the burger collaboration Canada has been waiting for!” says Chef Matty Matheson.
“A&W asked me to help make the best tasting burger ever—and I totally nailed it. Starting with
the best ever cut of the best ever grass-fed beef made it simple.”

“Brand collaborations are popping up everywhere these days – but we were on the lookout for a
true burger fan, who knows their beef, to partner with,” says Julia Cutt, Director of Brand
Communications and Digital Marketing at A&W Canada. “Matty is the perfect fit for A&W, and
we’ve teamed up to take our grass-fed beef to the next level. We can’t wait for Canadians to try
what we’ve created together!”

The “Best-Burger-Ever” Burger will be available at participating A&W Canada restaurants
nationwide from Monday, from April 25 for a limited time only, until supplies last.

  1. The meat is good but the combination of flavours do not pair well. Overpowering flavours clash.

This was the worst! This store messed it up pretty bad; there was a tiny dollop of Onions in the middle of the bottom bun, with very little mayo. We ordered the Meal Deal for 2 and it cost us over 30$$. We have always supported this store and have never had such a awful burger. ( The Pickles didn’t help it, and I like deep fried pickles)
The store we are complaining about is in Winnipeg. 107 Vermillion Rd., Winnipeg, MB

  3. These are nothing new. Tried a few years back. It’s a fast food chain trying to do an affordable gourmet burger. They’re ok … something different for the palate.

  4. Thumbs down to the Best Burger ever. My son fed his to the dog. Back to the teenburger or BMB. Weird pickles.

    • A&W burgers have been among my top favourite burgers for years. However, if I could sum up their “Best Burger Ever Burger” in one word it would be “meh!” It’s not a bad burger, but – for me – it’s underwhelming. From its appearance I was expecting a rich host of flavours, but experienced what it must be like if flavours had a mute button. If bland is your thing, then go for it. If not, any of A&W’s regular burgers is the better choice. Personally, I can’t see myself ever ordering it again. In fact, if it became part of a dollar menu, I’d pitch in the extra cash for a Mama or a Teen.

      • Very disappointed… Beef is lost in overpowering flavors. Tasted like fish and tartar sauce yuk. And the price is obscene.

I have always considered A&W as one of my favorite burger places because of the quality of the food and the taste. The Mozza burger is one of my favorites, but I like to try new options. I tried the Best Burger Ever as it looked interesting. It was, IMHO, the worst burger I have ever eaten. For the price, I thought it must have something redeeming. It was bland, a dollop of fried onions, small amount of mayo and minimal fried pickles. The worst was the meat. Not sure how it was produced, or cooked, but it did not meet the restaurant’s usual high standard. It was dry and flavorless. I had to keep adding ketchup to choke it down. I then had to check what the “meat” was, as it seemed as bad as a “meatless” burger I once tried. Sorry, A&W, but this campaign deserved more, better, “best”.

    • Yep – mediocrity in a bun.
If you label something that good you need to be able to back it up.
Even a Big Mac rates above this poor copy.
Save your money and eat something else.

Still apparently not in Edmonton, Alberta as tried 2x but keep being said they do not have the ingredients yet. By looks of the comments not sure I will want to try.

  6. I tried it today. Awful!!! Could not finish it. Very greasy and flavours don’t go well together. Should have stuck with the teen burger. I agree that even a Big Mac is better than this!

  7. I tired the burger yesterday, it was really awful!! I would name it The “Worst-Burger-Ever” Burger.

I expected to taste the prime rib with the burger; but not until I bought it, I then realized that it was prime rib PATTY instead of pieces of prime rib. I felt being cheated, the burger I bought was not the same thing I saw from the poster they posted in store. Besides, the burger had very little fired pickles and grilled onions on a bun, and I didn’t even taste the garlic aioli on a bun.

After all, the bun doesn’t worth CAD8.99. I rather prefer A&W to give frequent promotion on different types of buns from time to time.

  8. I agree with all of these comments. A&W is awful. And it’s not because of Covid, either. What is the matter with them? They took an Canadian icon and ruined it. They took a good tasting bun and toasted them to making the cheapest of cheap flour and water buns and don’t even toast them. mm… good… not! Then they buy the cheapest beef on the market that has so much water in it that it boils the beef patty instead of a slightly brown patty. Teenburgers used to have two patties. But who would care anymore when your beef is awful. It’s just disgusting how this group of people ruined the Teenburger. You can’t even get it hot any more. If the top people don’t care, then why should the workers care? All that advertising to say how good they are. Have the executives even try their own food they are trying to sell. They made a decision to not give coupons any more, just the app for cell phones. How is that working for you. You raised prices and prepare bad food in return. Grass fed beef :), most beef is grass fed until they finish them with grain. Non grain just Grass fed is a cheaper beef, even though they are tying to make it trendy and charge more for it. This is the new generation, and they could actually bankrupt the company. It wouldn’t be the first time, and I hope it doesn’t come to that. Our family used to be a once a week customer until the changed. It’s been a long time now, and I miss A&W. I will continue to test their food every 12-18 months in case they decided to make it better. Sadly, so far, no so good.
