On Saturday, November 18, 2023 six restaurants and six breweries are coming together once again for This Sandwich, That Beer: Movember Meatball Throwdown. Hosted by chefs Mike McClintock and Doug Stephen at The American (926 Main Street), each participating chef has been challenged to create a delicious meatball sandwich to be paired with local brews. Guests will have the chance to try each sando and beer pairing and vote for their favourite, between 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.. Tickets are available now via EventBrite.
Ticket proceeds benefit Movember, in support of mental health initiatives, testicular and prostate cancer research.
The participating “Fight Card” this year include:
- Superflux Brewing with Say Hey Cafe
- Field House Brewing with Rosie’s BBQ Smokehouse
- Strange Fellows Brewing with Team Cinnamon & Oak’s chef Johnny Bridge
- Four Winds Brewing Co. with Street Hawker
- Powell Brewery with The Gail
- Bridge Brewing with Juke Fried Chicken & Ribs (the reigning champions)
McClintock and Stephen will also create a cheeky welcome meatball snack for all to enjoy, paired with R&B Brewing’s limited edition Cinnamon Oatmeal Stout. Awards to be handed out that afternoon are Best Sandwich, Best Beer, and Best Pairing. This event is generously sponsored by Two Rivers Meats, Gordon Food Service, and The American.
