For a second year in a row, Full House Hospitality is stirring up a delicious (and friendly) culinary rivalry between sister spots, Sen Pad Thai and Longtail Kitchen, where guests are invited to help crown the ultimate Pad Thai dish. Over 14 days, noodle lovers can enjoy a limited-edition Pad Thai flavour at each restaurant and vote for their favourite. The grand prize is a full year of Pad Thai, redeemable at both locations. The competition kicks off November 7, 2024, in celebration of World Pad Thai Day.
Pad Thai is the national dish of Thailand and was once named one of the World’s 50 Most Delicious Foods (according to CNN Travel).
“We launched our inaugural Pad Thai Throwdown last year between Longtail Kitchen and Sen Pad Thai to highlight one of our most ordered noodle dishes, and it was truly a fun and engaging experience, for both our staff and for our guests,” says Angus An, founder and executive chef of Full House Hospitality, which counts Maenam, Longtail Kitchen, Sen Pad Thai, and Fat Mao Noodles in its restaurant portfolio. “It’s great to see our chefs get creative in the kitchen. Chefs Alex and Max have outdone themselves, and we look forward to having our guests give their new Pad Thai creations a try.”
At Granville Island Public Market, Sen Pad Thai’s feature Pad Thai, by chef Max Khuntong, is Pad Thai BBQ Pork Ribs ($24) with hot tamarind sauce and classic Pad Thai rice noodles.
In New Westminster, reigning champ chef Alex Lim of Longtail Kitchen is cooking up Pad Thai Chaiya ($21), featuring grilled tiger prawns and taro crisps.
To enter, guests can pick-up a special Pad Thai stamp card at either Sen Pad Thai or Longtail Kitchen. Both competition Pad Thai dishes must be enjoyed. After making their selection, completed stamp cards can be submitted at one of the participating restaurants. Contest ends November 21, 2024. A random winner will be announced on December 1, 2024.
“Chefs Alex and Max are very talented, and it’ll definitely be hard for our guests to choose just one favourite,” adds An. “Let the 2024 Pad Thai Throwdown begin!”
A new limited-edition Pad Thai Throwdown t-shirt has been designed for the occasion, and can be purchased at both Sen Pad Thai and Longtail Kitchen. In addition, the first 50 guests with completed stamp cards will receive the t-shirt for free.
