Tim Hortons has been advertising their $1 lattes until February 19th, 2012. They are trying hard to promote these drinks. They are definitely trying to rival other companies like Starbucks and McDonalds by creating more types of coffee. Since I needed a bit of a caffeine boost in the morning, I grabbed a small latte and a honey cruller.

The Latte ($1) was pretty bad in my opinion. The price point of the Lattes are very appealing, but everything is automatically dispensed from a machine. I asked for very little sugar to be added and it tasted quite sweet. I couldn’t finish the rest of it. I am usually not too picky, but I’d rather go back to the their regular coffee or walk a few extra blocks to go to McDonalds.

Honey Cruller Donut is my all time favorite out of all their donuts! It sweet on the outside and light and airy on the inside.

I would stay away from their lattes if you are a regular coffee drinker. Nothing good can come out of it.

It always seems like there is a Tim Hortons everywhere I go. I couldn’t help noticing that they have introduced a new product – Beef Lasagna Casserole. Their advertisements looked really good, so while I was at school, M and I grabbed some.

It’s made with pasta, beef,  ricotta cheese, basil and oregano in a tomato sauce. You also get garlic toast.

I thought it tasted really good, which is surprising for Tim Hortons. It seems like you can’t get very full from it unless you get the large size. M thought it was kinda similar to their chili, but wit noodles added into it. There could of also been a bit more cheese. Nonetheless, it’s worth a try, but its still not as good as the traditional lasagna you would find elsewhere. The garlic bread on the other hand was alright.

The prices vary at certain locations but a small size is around $4 and a large is between $6 and $7.

I’m always in a rush to actually eat breakfast, so there are days when I resort to eating Tim Hortons because it’s so close. Today, I wanted to try something a bit different on their menu, go I got the BLT Bagel, which is part of their breakfast menu.

I was super disappointed by it. The bacon strips were extremely thin and you could barely taste it. The egg was also quite bland. This was a very horrible bagel. I think McDonalds would have been a better choice for breakfast.

I don’t think it was also worth the price. BLT’s should really have more than just flimsy dainty pieces of bacon. Safe to say, I will never order this again.

Since Tim Hortons is located at all of the SFU campuses, it was not hard to miss the promotion on their smoothies. Tim Hortons just released their new Real Fruit Smoothies with a full serving of fruit. It comes in 2 flavours – Strawberry Banana or our Mixed Berry.

I always see people buying it and I honestly thought it would be a very disgusting drink. I talked to a lot of people and they said it tasted great.

M got me the Mixed berry smoothie with yogurt. You can pay a little bit more to add yogurt so it tasted a bit more creamier. The berries that are in this drink are – strawberries, blackberries, blueberries and raspberries.

It was a good drink, you can taste the yogurt and the berries blending together nicely. The texture was also good and was not icy like their Iced Cap.

Tim Hortons finally has a drink that is decently healthy! I would probably get this again if I wanted a non caffeinated beverage!

As I was going up Granville Station to get to Dunsmuir, I really wanted to try their breakfast wraps. So, being a greedy food lady, I couldn’t help myself but to get a combo. It comes with a drink, hash brown,  and the wrap.

I’ve been eyeing the breakfast wraps for a while but I’ve never wake up early enough to go get it until now.

The hashbrown is made of shredded potato, seasoning, and toasted. It tasted ok, but not as good as Mcdonald’s Hashbrowns.

The sausage breakfast wrap was a major disappointment. It is wrapped in the same pita wraps that they use for their other chicken wraps. Inside the wrap, there is sausage patty, cheddar cheese and scrabbled eggs. I look more picture of the inside, but it was so ugly, I didn’t want to post it up. The taste was alright, but not the best. It’s what you would expect cause it’s fast food.

I try not to believe in “roll up the rim to win”.  Sadly, I still didn’t win anything.

Have you won anything?

Even though I am a Canadian, I do not love Tim Hortons. I will get food or drinks if it’s convenient.

Uh oh, is someone going to beat me up? I do like their Iced Cappuccinos.

What I love about How I Met Your Mother is how they always make fun of Canadians. They even had an episode called “Dual Citizenship”, where it revolved around Robin getting a Dual Citizenship. If you are Canadian , you’ll just crack up during this whole episode. Even Tim Hortons is featured in the episode.

I am on my 15 minute break and went downstairs to get an Ice Cap at Tim Hortons. Like most  Canadians, we do love our Ice Caps.

Did you know, there is a Tim Horton’s in every Simon Fraser University (SFU) campus? True story, thats why I go to school. Of course I’m just joking. I go because I’m a UBC reject. That fact may be true, but I really do enjoy going to SFU!

Today, I ordered a medium Iced Cap … it’s always delicious and makes my day feel so much better. Surprisingly, there really isn’t a lot of coffee in it, so it’s all in my head… or it’s all the sugar.

The one problem I always find with ice caps is that annoying phase when you drank all the liquid and you are left with the slush…you then take your straw the mix it around and poke at the ice until something melts. Then, you must repeat the process over and over again. Might I add, all the splurping and the awkward noises from the straw

If you are asian, you are probably determined to not waste a drop, so you spend countless minutes staring into your cup like as if it was a television. (Guilty, thats me!)

I am lame so I googled to see if anyone else has said anything about this, but according to Google, way too many people are addicted to Ice Caps and want to find a cure. (Awkward…).

Here are a few tips to avoid an icy encounter:

  • Keep your straw in the middle and not at the bottom of the cup
  • Stir occasionally
  • If all else fails…microwave it and hope the cup doesn’t melt along with it

I probably don’t have the best advice, but maybe you can help. What do you do?

At SFU, when you are in the West Mall Complex, there really isn’t anything to eat except for Tim Hortons. The lines are long, so I always have to keep an eye out when the lines are empty.

I got my usual chicken snack wrap with ranch sauce. It is decent, but nothing is ever fresh or “real” tasting.

Tim Hortons has this new donut called the triple chocolate donut. It has chocolate filling, chocolate frosting, and topped with chocolate chips. 3 of my friends have tried this with me and we all could not finish it because it was way too sweet! The chocolate chips were too much. All 3 of us left 1/4 undone and had to throw it away.

To end everything off, I had a medium green tea! I love my green tea. It was perfect to wash the taste of triple chocolate donut out of my mouth.

Truth be told, I have never liked Tim Hortons. I know…it is probably very bad for a Canadian to say…but the food is just horrible. The drinks are good especially the Iced Caps.
