CanuckGirl and I met up again during lunchtime. It was hard deciding a place to eat, but I heard raving reviews about Goldies Pizza, so we decided to go.

The place was not packed during lunch, but later on it got more and more busy. A lot of people were grabbing and going from the window.

On their menu, they have the different types of pizza and drinks.

We both shared the 7″ Roasted Chicken ($.9.95). The toppings had Tomato sauce, mozzerela cheese, roasted chicken, roasted red peppers and onions.

Then we also got the  7″ mushroom lovers ($8.95). It has portobello and champignon de couche mushrooms marinated in extra virgin oliveoil and reduced balsamic vinegar, honey, rosemary and garlic.

I honestly did not like the pizza. The toppings were great and flavourful but one thing that just kept bugging me were the burnt crust of the pizza. If it was golden brown, I would be more satisfied. When you finish each slice, I was a bit hesitant to finish it because it did taste sightly burnt.

When you attempt to hold up the pieces, you can tell the dough was not crunchy, but a bit soggy. It did not hold together well as a slice. So, what we did was just use a knife and fork to eat it.

Perhaps it is the rustic type of pizza I am not into. Again, just probably personal preference.

Words of Wisdom:

  • Under $10
  • Close to Granville or Waterfront Skytrain

A new Megabite Pizza location opened up on at Production Skytrain. M and I felt like a pizza craving, so we went online to order what we wanted. We could of had them deliver to where we were, but it was cheaper just picking it up.

We ordered an extra large pizza and a side. The extra large box was HUGE! It took up the entire passenger side seat. It smelled so heavenly driving back home with the aroma of freshly baked pizza.

We got an XL pizza ($13.99). The 3 toppings that we added on top were peperoni, green peppers and onions. We also got to choose a dip and so we chose the honey garlic sauce.

This pizza did not compare to the one in Commercial Skytrain. It was pretty average and the quality was totally off from what they would usually make. The crust was not and addictive… and it was missing its trademark sesame seed crust.

We also ordered a side of Crazy spinach rolls ($4.49). We only ordered one and  4 pieces came in the box. At first glance, we noticed something wrong. All the spinach was burnt on the sides and the bottom was burnt.

M took a few bites but we gave up because it was like eating cancer. I braved through it all and the outside was just horrible, the only enjoyable part was in the center since it was gooey with cheese.

Overall, I we were really disappointed. Very disappointed! We both vowed we would never return to this location ever again!

Coming back from SFU, M is not always the best dressed when he finishes writing a long essay. I wanted to go to Cactus Club and he wanted to go to Boston Pizza. Again, I looked at him funny. He said he’s wearing sweats and doesn’t look the part to step into Cactus Club. I laughed at him and then we went to Boston Pizza.

Boston Pizza is a Canadian founded company from Alberta. It’s kinda funny since the name of the restaurant is Boston Pizza. You would think they would be American.

Boston Pizza has 2 areas to sit, in the dining area with booth style seating or in the bar area. The bar area is the best place to drink and watch the game.

Since it was Wednesday, they had a special on small pizzas for $10.99. There were lots of flavours to choose from and we chose the Pepperoni and mushroom pizza ($10.99).

The pizza was really good, crunchy crusts and ooey gooey toppings. M instantly became a fan. The crust is thin and not very doughy, so you won’t feel super bloated.

I was yet again trying to be healthy and ordered a greek salad ($10.99). It was a pretty bad greek salad, the leaves were cut way too large to fit into my mouth. There was too much feta cheese on top. The onion were also cut too big. When you bit into a piece of onion, all you could taste was the onion and the burning sensation.

I would never order this again.

M ordered the Boston Brute ($13.48). A deli style sandwich loaded with Genoa salami, pepperoni, smoked ham, pizza mozzarella, onion and pizza sauce. Baked on a French-style bun.

Instead of fries or a salad, he substituted with cactus cuts, which are thinly sliced potatoes that are deep fried and has a little bit of spicy kick to it.

Words of Wisdom:

M here, and tonight I decided to order in for once. Who says take aways and delivery food are subpar to eating at a restaurant? I went to Uncle Fatih’s Pizza online and let me tell you, their website is awesome! It beats Dominos’, Papa John’s, and Pizza Hut’s website hands down! I chose Uncle Fatih’s thanks to Sherman’s Food Adventures. (Link: http://www.shermansfoodadventures.com/2009/03/uncle-fatihs-pizza.html) Like Sherman, I thought Uncle Fatih was Uncle Faith. I still call it that!

Unfortunately, they could not deliver to my house, even though I live pretty close to their East Broadway branch. No matter I ordered online for a pickup. I was worried the order didn’t go through for a nervous 30 minutes, when the phone call came.

I rushed down there at 11:30 PM and I was surprised on how packed and clean this small pizza place looked. It was VERY clean. If it was slightly bigger, it would’ve made an awesome pizza parlour. A group of people eating pizza at 11:30 at night is a good sign that the pizza is cheap and delicious.

I ordered the Meat Lover’s Large pizza and believe me, it is loaded with meat. In my personal opinion, the best pizzas are the ones with extra pizza sauce and good cheese. Unfortunately there wasn’t an excess of both of these on this pizza.

What lacked in sauce and cheese are the toppings! Ground beef literally fell off because it had no cheese surface to cling to. The ingredients were delicious and was on par with major chain pizza places. There was no option online to add extra anything, so next time I’m going to order by phone!

The large pizza came to a measly $16.95, so awesome price for awesome pizza.

Have Faith in Uncle Fatih’s Pizza and order now on their awesome website: http://www.unclefatih.com/! Why pay more for pizza when you can get great quality pizza at Uncle Fatih’s Pizza? 2 slices and drink for under 5 bucks is a deal when you are on commute in Commercial station!

Megabite pizza at Commercial Skytrain is probably all commuters dream! This is probably some damn good cheap pizza you have ever had if you are heading to Vancouver or Burnaby.

I was heading back from The Town Advanced Screening, M wanted some pizza from Megabite since he heard it was decent pizza and super cheap.

Walking into the place, there were about 10 different types of pizza to choose from if you are into individual slices. Everything looked SO delicious but I came in for a whole pizza.

When I was ordering you can choose up to 3 toppings, they have lots of toppings to choose from. I decided to have grilled chicken, Chorizo sausage, and pepperoni…. But the cashier made a mistake so I ended up with grilled chicken, chorizo sausage, and pineapple.  Pineapple isn’t my thing but M liked it.

The wait was about 15 minutes and it came in a box obviously. It was a bit weird waiting inside cause the interior seemed pretty dirty and sticky so I just waited outside.

You can also add extra sauce to your pizza free of cost. Theres ranch sauce, chili flakes, cheese, and hot sauce.

Price List:

Slice – $2

2 slices and a pop – $4.75

Small pizza – 5.99

Medium pizza – $8.99

Large Pizza – $ 10.99

XL pizza – $13.99

If you need a quick bite or need some pizza to recover from clubbing, Megabite pizza has huge slices of pizza for $2! There is no need to ever go to Panago, Dominos, or pizza hut ever again! It’s not the BEST pizza in the word but it’s good for the price.
