Sunday Pies Pizza Co. pops up inside Luppolo Brewing for 10 days only

It’s the summer of pizza and chef-pals Doug Stephen of Downlow Brands and Colin Staus are launching a special 10-day only pop-up at Luppolo Brewing (1123 Venables Street), from June 24 to July 3, 2022. The pair, together with several notable industry friends, are slicing things up as Sunday Pies Pizza Co. featuring eight pizza flavours, several surprise pies, and sides.

“Colin and I have wanted to work together on a new project for a while since Big Day BBQ,” says Stephen. “Luppolo has a great pizza oven, and there was an opportunity for us to create fun pies for a limited-time as Luppolo’s main Pizzaiola is taking a vacation for a few weeks. We’re happy to hold down the fort until Mordimi returns. We called on some of our colleagues to collaborate with us as well. So come down, grab a pint or two, enjoy some slices, and check out what we’ve come up with!”

Sunday Pies Pizza Co. officially kick-offs Friday, June 24th, leading right into Luppolo Brewing’s Summer Solstice Sesh: Fruit and Sour Beer Fest Year 2 event on Saturday, June 25th, continuing over the July 1st long weekend until Sunday, July 3rd. Over the course of the pop-up, guest chefs will come in with their own feature pie creations, including from Juke’s Bryan Satterford, Beta5’s Adam Chandler, Top Rope Birria and Flying Elbow’s Kevin McKenzie, Published on Main’s Gus Stieffenhofer-Brandson, and Stephen’s DL Chicken and Downlow Burgers.

The eight pizza options (from $18) include:

  • Margherita – SP Tomato Sauce, Fior Di Latte, Basil
  • Big Pep’ – SP Tomato Sauce, Smoked Mozza, Roni Cups, Oregano
  • Meat’Za – SP Tomato Sauce, Salami, Spicy Sausage, Roni, Chili Flakes
  • Quattro – SP Tomato Sauce, Mozza, Scamorza, Curds, Parm
  • Farmer – Caramelized Zucchini, Fior di Latte, Marks Veggies
  • Mortadella – Pistachio Pesto, Morty, Arugula, Preserved Lemon
  • Bamma – Stracciatella, Smoked Chicken, Mozza, Bamma Driz
  • Patat – Stracciatella, Taleggio, Shaved Potatoes, Prosciutto

Sides include olives, burrata, meatballs, baked wings, and two salads. Dessert is BETA5’s famous ice cream sandwiches. Guests can also add-on more toppings.

“It’s great working with Doug again in the kitchen,” adds Staus. “Pizza is one of my favourite things and these are all flavours I would order myself.”
