Smitty’s Oyster House Main Street: 1st anniversary and 2022 festive season

Smitty’s Oyster House Main Street is celebrating its first anniversary and getting the festive season in full swing with Weekend Paella Nights, ‘Bubbles and Boards’ features for New Year’s Eve and a Give-One-Get-Some Gift Card Promotion at the popular Mount Pleasant bar and restaurant (3124 Main St.) this December.

Revellers can count down the minutes to midnight and ring in the new year in style on Saturday, December 31 during a special New Year’s Eve service starting at 3 p.m. that offers parties of two or four ‘Bubbles and Boards’ features and complimentary glasses of bubbly when the calendar flips to 2023.

Smitty’s Oyster House Main Street’s Bubbles and Boards for Two option includes two glasses of bubbly, Chili Lime Prawns (garlic, lime, chilies, Parmesan), Wolf Candy (half-rack of lamb lollies, big bad sauce) and Burrata (poached cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, Maldon salt, EVOO, balsamic drizzle, toasted baguette) for $80 plus tax and gratuity, while the Bubbles and Boards for Four feature offers a bottle of bubbly, Chili Lime PrawnsWolf CandyBurrataHalibut Fritters and Chips, and Sablefish Risotto (lemon & Parmesan risotto, market vegetables) for $140 plus tax and gratuity.

The back of house team at Smitty’s Oyster House Main Street is led by Chef Alan Older, who cultivated his culinary acumen and love for showcasing local at restaurants in his Mexican homeland and helmed kitchens at Vancouver’s The Sardine Can, Cannibal Café and The Five Point. The front of house family takes its cues from GM Nicky Annable, a familiar face who honed his sense of hospitality and shucking skills during eight years at Chewie’s Oyster Bar. 

On Fridays and Saturdays in December starting at 6:30 p.m. until sold out, Chef Older will also add his signature spin to a Valencian seafood-and-rice favourite during Weekend Paella Nights when he prepares and cooks the traditional dish over an open flame on the Smitty’s Oyster House on Main patio before the eyes of guests.

Tuesday through Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. and all-day Tuesdays, guests can enjoy Happy Hour features including: Oysters three ways (raw or panko-breaded and pan-fried, $2.5 ea. or Broiled Rocky Balboa, Chèvre Chaud and Keno-style, $8); Salt Spring Island Mussels in wine, garlic, shallots, lemon and thyme butter, $11; Halibut Ceviche Tostadas, $4 ea.; and a trio of Tuna, Shrimp and Halibut Seafood Tostadas, $15. Happy Hour drink features include glasses of red or white house wine for $6 and pints of rotating BC craft beer for $6.5.

GIVE-ONE-GET-SOME GIFT CARD PROMOTION

Smitty’s Oyster House on Main helps friends, family and Secret Santas get in the giving spirit and receive a little gift of their own this holiday season with a Give-One-Get-Some promotion that rewards guests who buy $100 of Smitty’s Oyster House on Main gift certificates with a $20 gift card of their own. This promotion is available until December 31.

HOLIDAY BOOKINGS AND CLOSURES

Smitty’s Oyster House on Main offers a unique spot to host holiday luncheons, family gatherings and office parties for groups of more than 10 people as well as full buyouts Tuesdays through Sundays this December. Smitty’s Oyster House on Main will be closed for the holidays Saturday, December 24 and Sunday, December 25 but will re-open at 3 p.m. on Monday, December 26.
