Red Wagon Café, the beloved East Hastings neighbourhood institution, is launching a new evening burger menu and extending its dinner hours. Along with the wholesome ingredients and attention to detail guests have grown accustomed to, diners can expect a mouthwatering lineup of burgers, spiked and non-alcoholic milkshakes, and a sweet selection of wine, beer, and cider from 5 p.m. on.
“Since opening the Red Wagon in 2010, we have operated with the focus of giving our guests what they want,” explains Brad Miller, chef/owner of Red Wagon Café. “Right now, our diners want burgers.”
The neighborhoods of Hastings Sunrise and Grandview-Woodlands have been missing a go-to burger spot. With General Manager Katie Thomas working the floor with her casual grace, and Brad Miller leading the kitchen along with his superstar prep cook, Sam Ríós, the Red Wagon is ready to step in and fill those shoes.
The dinner menu features classic starters with playful twists such as Maple Chipotle Wings, a slate of burgers including the infamous Smash Burger, illustrious Bistro Burger, and the all-new Fried Pickle Burger, plus an all-day breakfast, tasty sandwiches, and a few special dishes that give a nod to the owner’s bistro roots. Meanwhile, the new cocktail menu features 11 delicious boozy milkshakes such as Pina Colada, Tequila Lime Pie, Frozen Mudslide, and Adult Oreo—all shakes can be made non-alcoholic and kid-friendly.
The Red Wagon’s new burger and shake menus officially launches tonight, Tuesday, July 30th, and the new hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with dinner starting at 5 p.m., and Sunday and Monday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Plus, on sunny evenings, the back patio is open.
