May To Order: Fanny Bay Oyster Bar Showcases Exclusive Features For Mother’s Day, BC Spot Prawn Season

MAYDAY! Fanny Bay Oyster Bar & Shellfish Market is celebrating the best of BC’s freshest catches by showcasing special features for Mother’s Day and giving Spot Prawn aficionados a taste of their favourite seasonal delicacies at the downtown restaurant and seafood market this May.

To mark the official open of BC Spot Prawn season in early May, Fanny Bay Chef Tommy Shorthouse and his culinary team will showcase locally caught, sustainably sourced spot prawns in a variety of dishes starting Friday, May 6 as well as at the raw bar, including sashimi-style with fried heads by the piece and a signature dish of Poached Spot Prawns with herb oil, buttermilk-lime dressing and topped with Northern Divine caviar.

Starting that same day and while supplies last, Fanny Bay’s Shellfish Market will also offer live spot prawns in addition to frozen sashimi-grade BC spot prawns as well as BC spot prawn tails for at-home chefs to add savoury flavour to their favourite dishes, stocks and paellas with pre-orders available online.

Fanny Bay will also help guests show the love for the special moms in their lives with an exclusive dine-in feature of West Coast Paella (fresh daily catch fish, prawns, mussels, clams, scallops, chorizo, saffron rice, house-made pickled peppers) paired with a bottle of house Rosé Prosecco. Served up tableside in the pan, Fanny Bay’s Mother’s Day Paella feature is available for dine-in service beginning at 6 p.m. exclusively Saturday, May 7 and Sunday, May 8 for $100 plus tax and gratuity.

For those looking to entertain mom at home and add a little culinary flair to Mother’s Day celebrations, Fanny Bay’s Shellfish Market is also offering its West Coast Paella Kit complete with paella pan, instructions and all ingredients including mussels, clams, scallops, prawns and Coho salmon and a bottle of Rosé Prosecco to go. Paella Kits are available for $107 each including tax and can be ordered online with 24 hours advance notice.

Fanny Bay Oyster Bar is located at 762 Cambie Street and is open for dine-in service and takeout seven days a week from 3 to 10 p.m. with daily Happy Hour service from 3 to 6 p.m. The Fanny Bay retail market is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and offers fresh and smoked seafood selections, premium shellfish and oysters from British Columbia and Washington State, gourmet pantry items, seafood boxes and specialty kits available to order online for pick-up or home delivery.
