A brand-new brunch experience is set to break ground on Vancouver’s North Shore when Loam Bistro opens its doors in North Vancouver’s bustling Lower Lonsdale neighbourhood at 230 Esplanade West later this September.

Open daily for brunch, lunch and coffee to go or stay in a cozy, welcoming space in the heart of the Esplanade district within walking distance of Lonsdale Quay and the SeaBus, Loam Bistro is a labour of love for Co-Owners, entrepreneurs and life and business partners Honoka Saito and Chef Rahul Negi.

Saito brings her years of experience as a barista and beverage consultant to the new project, while Negi helmed kitchens in acclaimed five-star hotel properties around the world as well as Vancouver’s Joe Fortes Seafood & Chop House and Robba di Matti, among others, before deciding to affix his own stamp on the local culinary scene at Loam.

At the beverage bar, Loam will offer an array of espresso-based beverages (macchiato, cortado, flat white, pistachio mocha) comprising beans from local roasters like North Van’s House of Funk and Richmond’s Moving Coffee, as well as teas from O5 and premium matcha and hojicha sourced directly from Japan.

The food menu incorporates locally sourced and freshly farmed and foraged ingredients that elevate Loam’s lighter fare (Warm Kale & Turmeric Quinoa and Acai Bowls) and classic-meets-contemporary dishes that range from savoury (Bone Marrow Omelette, Black Garlic & Stracciatella Omelette, Avocado ‘Croast’, Oeuf Cocotte, Shakshuka, Prosciutto & Hot Honey Sandwich, more) to sweet (Pistachio French Toast, Matcha Crème Brûlée, Loam Maple & Peanut Granola).

“At Loam, we blend international inspiration with fresh, local ingredients and the finest coffees and teas we can source both from around the globe and here at home served in a community hub that celebrates the unique diversity and pride of place of the North Shore we call home,” says Negi. “We’re excited to be able to open our doors and introduce ourselves to the neighbourhood and can’t wait to show our love for local at Loam.”

Negi and Saito also took great care during the design and build process to infuse the room with the natural elements and character of the North Shore and bring the outside in, accenting the bright and airy space with lush greenery, hanging flowers and a 12-foot tree in the centre of the room, as well as using light wood for the floors, banquettes and chairs.

Further details on Loam Bistro, including the full food and beverage menu, will be revealed prior to the official opening this September. To stay on top of the latest developments or get all the latest news, go to loambistro.ca.
