House of Dawn: A New Era of Dining Set to Shine in Richmond

House of Dawn is poised to make its debut as Richmond’s first upscale-casual Asian fusion dining experience, opening its doors to the public on November 4, 2024. Positioned as a fresh force in Richmond’s diverse culinary landscape, House of Dawn offers a new alternative to the city’s established dining scene, differentiating itself from well-known chains and traditional independent Asian restaurants.

Located in the heart of Richmond at 130-8171 Ackroyd Road, House of Dawn blends a rich array of Asian culinary traditions with global influences, creating a unique fusion that will delight food lovers. Spearheaded by Chef and Partner Danny Deng, alongside General Manager Ryan Nam and Bar Manager Korbin Mountford, the team brings together diverse expertise and a shared passion for pushing the boundaries of Asian cuisine.

House of Dawn’s carefully crafted menu draws inspiration from across Asia while incorporating global elements, showcasing high-quality ingredients and creative presentation—all at an accessible price point. Offerings range from shareables, handhelds, and sashimi to rice bowls and larger plates so guests can indulge in standout starters such as the House of Dawn Chilli Mirin MusselsBao Two Ways, or the decadent Cherry Foie Gras Mousse with Brioche toast before moving on to masterful mains like Grilled Ribeye with Miso SauceSmoked Soy Glazed Sablefish, or Buddha Soba Noodle Bowl. Finish up with Jasmine Panna Cotta for dessert, a delicate harmony of floral notes and velvety cream topped with luscious ginger and osmanthus jelly to complete a memorable dining experience.

“Our goal with House of Dawn is to introduce a new kind of dining experience to Richmond—one that embraces the vibrancy of Asian cuisine, and elevates it with unexpected flavours and presentations,” says Deng. “We’ve created a space that feels both familiar and new, and we want our guests to feel that they are part of something special, every time they visit.”

Complementing the robust culinary menu is a curated beverage program led by Mountford, offering a variety of beverages to enrich the dining experience with bold and Asian-inspired notes.

Guests can expect carefully crafted cocktails, including takes on classic favourites like the BoulevardierPaper Plane, and Old Fashioned alongside signature creations such as the Golden ThroneMoonlight Matinee, and Royal Decree. A carefully curated selection of wines, rare artisanal sakes, and premium spirits has been thoughtfully chosen to complement and elevate every dish.

The restaurant’s ambiance pays homage to the “golden era” of old Shanghai, balancing modern elegance with traditional touches. Guests can immerse themselves in one of five distinct dining areas, including a cocktail bar and lounge, a spacious front dining room, an event-ready back dining room, and two exclusive dining rooms for private events. Crafted with rich textures and premium materials, the aesthetics lend an air of refinement. The dark green leather armchairs, marble tiles, and golden metallic decors set a luxe, timeless tone, while white porcelain chandeliers and wood accents add a touch of softness.

“The sophisticated yet welcoming design creates a social sanctuary where guests can enjoy quality food, drinks, and conversations,” says Nam. “Whether you’re gathering with friends, hosting an event, or enjoying an intimate evening, House of Dawn offers an experience that feels both elevated and approachable.”

As anticipation builds, House of Dawn invites the community to stay connected by following the restaurant on social media and signing up for its newsletter for the latest news and events.
