Fresh Ideas Start Here (FISH), British Columbia’s purveyor of fresh, sustainable seafood, has launched several new DIY Seafood Platters and Kits, just-in-time for February’s celebration weekend. Available for delivery or pickup from February 12 to 15, 2021, seafood lovers can preorder the Caviar Kit, FISH Valentine’s Day Chilled Seafood Platters, Bouillabaisse Kit, and Smoked Uni Shooter & Handroll Kit to enjoy at home.

“We specifically designed our seafood platters and kits to be interactive, fun, and easy to put together,” explains Jenice Yu, owner of Fresh Ideas Start Here. “With Lunar New Year, Valentine’s Day, and Family Day all on the same weekend, they work well for so many occasions and can be enjoyed in the comforts of your own home or gifted to your friends, family, loved ones, and gal pals.”

The FISH Valentine’s Day Platters (small $45; medium $75; large $95) come with seaweed salad, wild salmon spread, lemon, crackers, and pickled vegetables accompaniments. Customers can select from a variety of fresh seafood, including cooked Dungeness crab, cooked lobster tail, sashimi (sockeye, albacore tuna, ahi tuna, scallops), shrimp cocktail, octopus salad, squid salad, marinated clams and mussels, and salmon roulade.

The luxe Caviar Kit ($115) serves two to four people and features one tin of Ocean Wise Acadian Sturgeon caviar from News Brunswick, chive crème fraîche, diced egg white, diced egg yolk, crackers, and fresh dill.

For a heart-warming start, the popular FISH Bouillabaisse Kit ($49) is packed with a variety of sustainable seafood, including a saffron halibut broth base, wild red shrimp, clams, mussels, wild BC salmon, wild BC halibut, garlic, onion, fennel, leek, celery, Yukon Gold potatoes, thyme, bay leaf, chili flakes, and salt.

The new Smoked Uni shooter & Handroll Kit ($110) was created for sea urchin fans. Hand harvested in BC and exclusively smoked by FISH, the “ocean’s foie gras” can be enjoyed several ways – in shooter form or as a handroll. The kit comes with wild sockeye salmon, shoyu ikura, smoked red sea urchin roe, nori, cooked Japanese rice, dashi soy, quail eggs, green onion, and ginger.

All FISH seafood platters and kits can now be pre-ordered online at www.eatfish.ca. Pre-orders received before February 7, 2021 will receive a 10 percent discount.
