Chiwis: Expands Its Lineup, Retail Locations Across Canada

In honour of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day being observed this Friday, November 19, the women-led team behind the born-in-BC superfruit snack-food brand known as Chiwis is announcing that it is expanding its lineup with a trio of new flavours available in even more locations across Canada later this month.

Created by nutritionist and entrepreneur Sarah Goodman, the 100%-natural, vegan-friendly, non-GMO snack food company launched this past February with two flavours — original Kiwi Chips and a Tropical Chips variety of kiwi, pineapple and coconut chips — comprising dehydrated, upcycled fruit that didn’t make the produce-aisle cut at local grocery stores.

The three new flavours added to the Chiwis fruit-chip family include the citrusy, Vitamin C-packed Orange Chiwis, sweet and flavourful Mango Chiwis and the light and crispy, pineapple punch of Piña Chiwis, all of which follow the company’s philosophy of utilizing the often-discarded, fibre-rich and nutrient-dense rinds, cores and husks of fruit.

Originally available only in BC, health-conscious consumers and snack-food aficionados can now find their favourite Chiwis flavours on shelves in grocery stores across Canada that include Urban Fare, IGA, Whole Foods, Fresh St. Market, Nesters Markets, Choices Markets and Foodland.

Chiwis started as a side hustle for Goodman but quickly grew into a full-time gig as the brand gained a following thanks to its guilt-free, feelgood brand of snack chips while also earning recognition as North America’s first-ever kiwi chip company and one that is 90% women-owned and -operated and certified as such by WEConnect International.

Chiwis also gives back to the community at large by donating a portion of its profits to the Take a Hike Foundation, which engages and empowers vulnerable ad at-risk youth through clinical counselling and outdoor experiential learning programs to better provide them with a sense of community.

“Store shelves are stocked with snack foods that claim to be good for you but are actually loaded with added sugars, oils and preservatives. We wanted to be able to offer people a truly healthier alternative,” says Goodman, Chiwis CEO and Founder. “We’re excited to introduce a wider range of flavours packed with health benefits, perfect for hiking, camping or at-home snacks and taste good while also doing good.”
