DD Mau is a modern Vietnamese Banh Mi Sandwich shop. It’s located close to the Yaletown Skytrain. They sell drinks, salads, vermicelli bowls, and sandwiches.

Avocado Smoothie ($4.50) is made with fresh avocados and almond milk. It’s my all time favorite smoothie! The texture is great and the taste of avocado goes so well with the almond milk.

Thai Tea Latte is a new item they just introduced. I’ve never had anything like it, but it had an array of different spices and flavours. It was refreshing and delicious.

DD Mau Iced Coffee ($3.50) has espresso, sweet condensed milk, and Ice. M said it was the best iced coffee he has had so far. The owner said there is a secret ingredient inside! She wouldn’t tell us, but it was yummy!

Braised Sate Short Rib with Caramelized Onions and Watercress ($12) . This was their special feature when we were there. It’s more expensive than their regular Banh Mi Sandwiches, but M really enjoyed the flavours inside.

The sandwich is cut in half, so its easier to eat. The short ribs were very tender and went well with the pickled vegetables . M liked how the bread was a bit softer than most of the other Vietnamese sandwich places, so it doesn’t hurt the top of your mouth.

Crispy Roasted Pork ($8.80) has loads of duck and the addictive crackling! Kind like Meat & Bread, but with a Vietnamese twist.

Overall, M and I enjoyed the items that we had there. Some items can be expensive like their special sandwiches, but their regular sandwiches are still yummy.

Words of Wisdom:

  • Limited Seating

Earlier in the month, I decided to use up my Groupon at Sunset Burgers on Nelson St. before it expires. The Groupon was $10 for $20 worth of food. It was set to expire at the end of the month…so good thing I used it since it closed and has become Ace Burger Bar.

If you haven’t used up your Groupon yet, I would suggest getting in contact with Groupon to get your money back.

As for Ace Burger Bar, it has completely new ownership but does serve similar items. I haven’t been there yet, so I am not sure if Ace Burger Bar is good or not.

Below are some pictures of what I had at Sunset Burgers before it closed.

Kraze Burger is Korea’s burger restaurant. It was founded in 1998 and was the first restaurant specializing in hamburgers in Korea. They have locations all over Korea even the airport. As I was in COEX Mall, I knew I had to find Kraze Burgers to try some famous burgers in Korea. They are slowly expanding all over the world.

It was a long walk from the subway as the mall is very confusing to navigate, especially if you are a tourist. When I got here, there was a line out the door at 8pm! I waited about 10 mins to find a seat.

The K.B Original has 100% Pure Beef Patty, one slice of cheese, lettuce, fresh tomato slice, fresh onion slice, chili sauce, homemade pickles on a Baked Bun. They have a lot of crazy types of burgers but I really wanted to try the original Kraze Burger. It was a delicious solid burger that satisfied me, but it was expensive! I probably could have gotten 2 meals for the price of this burger.

Overall, it’s delicious but if you are in town for a short while, might as well skip this and try more traditional Korean food.

After getting off the plane at 6am, I dropped off my luggage at the hotel and headed straight to Changdeokgung Palace for an English tour. The english tour happens a few times a day, so you need to check when it is because it’s not as fun walking around on your own. It’s free with the entrance ticket. You just wait at the entrance of the gate till it starts.

Usually the english tours start at 10:30am and 2:30pm. The tour covers the general palace area and lasts about an hour.

I opted for the additional Secret Garden tour as well with a few dollars extra. The additional tour is about 1.5 hrs long. I thought it was well worth it and most other tourists did both tours. It’s a very beautiful place and my 2nd favorite palace in Seoul! If you are in Seoul, do check it out!

As me and another tourist got very hungry, we decided to walk around the area for a quick bite before heading off to another tour nearby. We wandered into Joe’s Sandwich. Joe’s Sandwich is a chain cafe in Korea and serves up sandwiches and juices.

Fresh Kiwi juice was made of real kiwis! It was really good and refreshing! Not too sour and they use a large amount of Kiwis!

Pastrami Croissant Sandwich was stacked full of lettuce, tomatoes, pastrami and cheese. The sandwich was ok, but not the best. I like my croissants crunchy on the outside, but it was very soft here.

My friend is a vegetarian, so it was very hard for her to find food in the area. After talking to the server, he suggested this for her. It didn’t look very appetizing since it was just processed cheese on bread and then as salad on the side.

After having lunch, we headed to Jongmyo Royal Shrine for another english tour. It’s pretty small, but it was cool learning about how Confucius teachings were integrated into their culture and architecture. The tours occur at 10am, 12pm, 2pm, and 4pm. You need a tour to enter the shrine, so you need to make sure you arrive on time, or join another tour in another language.

Words of Wisdom:

  • Passable sandwiches, but not great

Shake Shack is another iconic restaurant to dine at in New York. This location surely doesn’t look like a shack, but still has the delicious burgers that customers want. The original location isn’t this once, but it’s very close to the Museum of Natural History.

It was on CanuckGirl’s list of must eats, so we decided to go here. We were in the area anyways, so we didn’t want to miss a chance at eating their famous burgers and milk shakes.

It was packed inside!! There was a long line to the counter and a bunch of people waiting for their order.

They have seating upstairs and another seating area in their basement. It’s better eating on the main floor because of the nice natural light.

CanuckGirl and I ordered a little bit of everything. It’s not that healthy for you, but hey…when you’re on vacation, you can indulge a little. Plus all the walking in New York will surely burn off the fat.

Strawberry Shake ($5) is what CanuckGirl ordered and she enjoyed it.

Fair Shake ($5.50) is a vanilla shake with 100% certified organic coffee. It was good, but there could have been a stronger coffee taste to it. Nonetheless, it was still good for the hot summer weather.

Cheese Fries ($3.65) has the bed of crispy fries with a large amount of melted cheese. It was more like cheese spread rather than cheese. It was still very gooey and fun to eat.

Shack Burger ($4.55) is made with 100% angus beef, cooked to medium and comes with American cheese, lettuce, tomato and shack sauce.

Shack Stack ($8.60) is their cheese burger with a shroom burger topped with lettuce tomatoes and shack sauce. If you can’t decide between the cheese burger or shroom burger, might as well choose this one. I really loved this burger since the portobello mushroom was very crispy and very juicy at the same time.

Overall, we did enjoy our experience here. The waits are long and you might have to stalk other for a table, but it you have patience, you’ll do just fine. The prices are a bit high on a few items, but it’s worth it.

Carnegie Deli was founded in 1937 and has attracted visitors from all over the world. Even notable celebrities have visited here. They have a few locations in other parts of the States as well. They are best known for their huge sandwiches! I came here since I heard the reuben is something I must try.

At 5pm, there was quite a long line up already, so I opted to just do take-out and eat it back at the hotel.

If you do take out, just walk to the left counter and put down your order. Once you grab your order, you can pay at the counter on the right.

Ah, There`s the Reuben Sandwich ($24.95) was so expensive!! I actually didn’t expect it to be over $20, but it did hurt my wallet. There are layers and layers of pastrami underneath, then topped with sauerkraut and swiss cheese.

It also comes with a container of their mustard and Russian dressing. I love the mustard so much since it complimented the dish so well.

I thought the taste was quite average and nothing too amazing. For $24.95, I expected it to be much larger that what was presented to me. I think I would have had a better time eating a sandwich from Carnegie instead.

Overall, you can definitely get better food for the price of this reuben. I wasn’t too impressed.

CanuckGirl and I were looking for a place close to our hotel for dinner. After surfing on Urbanspoon, we decided to go to Parish Cafe. It was created by Gordon Wilcox and he had a simple concept. He approached all the famous local chefs and asked them to create a sandwich for the Parish Cafe menu.

Each Sandwich is named for the chef and the restaurant they are from. Since most of our menu items are created by other chefs, the standards are high and that’s how they have become quite popular.

On the walls, there are tons of articles about their restaurant.

On a busy weekend, it was quicker to get a table inside than sitting on the patio. 45 mins wait for the patio or a 5 min wait for inside the restaurant? Of course we chose to sit inside.

The Lumiere ($10.50) was created by Michael Leviton, the Chef/Owner of Lumiere, Newton. The sandwich is a slow-roasted pork butt sandwich on a seeded bun with a lime and green curry tartar sauce. Served with an ocean papaya salad topped with peppered peanuts.

The Schlow ($13.25) was created by Michael Schlow, the Chef/Owner of Radius & Via Matta in Boston. It s a roasted rare sirloin, sliced thin, with caramelized onions, tomato confit, arugula and a horseradish-cream sauce. Served on Tuscan wheat bread with coleslaw and mixed greens.

It was quite delicious and had a good amount of rare sirloin.

Overall, the sandwiches were great. The service was quite mediocre as the servers were always in a rush. We would signal to them that we were ready to order but they would not return. It took a while to get their attention.

Words of Wisdom:

  • Decent prices for lunch and dinner
  • Good quality food
  • Get their sandwiches!

Neptune Oysters is the place to go for Oysters and seafood when you are visiting Boston. Usually tourists go to the Union Oyster House for seafood, as it is the oldest restaurant in America. We chose Neptune Oyster House because it was highly talked about and MedicalGiraffe told me I had to go.

CanuckGirl and I came here after a day of sightseeing and shopping. It was around 5:30 and we put our names down. We still had to wait a little bit. Even though there are no physical lines outside the restaurant, there will be one on a piece of paper. Usually people just walk around the area and come back.

We sat at the bar area and it was fine for a group of 2 people. The servers were very nice and for some reason they were all women.

They also have a few larger tables too, if you have a big party, definitely come early as they do not take reservations.

You order all your oysters on a sheet and it comes with all the information you need. It was great having the descriptions so you know what to expect if you are an oyster noob. CanuckGirl just ordered the oysters that originated from the West Coast. Since we were near the East Coast, I decided to try the medium-sized ones.

The oysters do range in price, but they aren’t too expensive. It comes with cocktail sauce, vinaigrette, and lemons. The descriptions of the oysters are accurate and the people who shuck these oysters do a great job!

Maine Lobster Roll ($25) the lobster comes on a toasted roll with the lobster in hot butter. You can also have the lobster cold with mayo instead. Canuckgirl liked it better in its hot form with butter. The pieces of lobster were massive and worth the price. It also comes with a side of fries and ketchup. Highly recommended!

Neptune Burger ($16) has cheddar cheese, burger, fried oysters, garlic mayo and relish. It also comes with fries and ketchup on the side. You can choose the degree of wellness of your burger, I chose mine to be medium-rare and it was AMAZING.

It was a bit too big to hold with my hands, so I used the fork and knife to devour this bad boy. It was very very delicious! Probably one of the best burgers I have ever had. The oysters were lightly battered and had such a delicious taste. The burger was perfectly done and the juices that poured out of the meat was so yummy. Highly recommended!

Overall, we had a great time here. The food was great and the service was great as well. If I was to visit Boston again, I would definitely come here again!

Mr. Bartley’s began in 1960’s across the Harvard courtyard serving up delicious burgers. Since then it has become a Harvard Square institution attracting visitors from around the world. They have won several awards and have been featured in various publications. Some have gone as far to say that they serve the best burgers in the United States.

There is obviously lots of hype over this place, so, when CanuckGirl and I visited Harvard, we needed a taste of it. Around noon on a Monday, there was a line going all the way outside. An old man (who may or may not be Mr. Bartley) gave us menus as we waited in line and took our older. He really hustled everyone in line and we felt that it was quite rude as the menu is quite extensive. We also found it very weird how you had to put down your order before you even got a table. When we did get a table, the server asked us for what we wanted to order. CanuckGirl and I were so confused, so we said we gave our order outside. There seems to be a bit of a coordination issue right from the beginning.

The inside is indeed busy and all the walls have different posters, pictures, and other wacky items. Most of the people who were eating here are tourists (just like us).

Guy Fieri also featured them on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. He always leave his signature logo on the walls of restaurants he visits.

Mr. Bartley’s Famous Bottled Root Beer ($1.95) Can you believe they make their own root beer?

Fresh Lemonade ($2.99) is one of their specialties. It was sour and sweet. It comes in a very large cup, so it does take a bit of effort to drink it all. It’s probably because I am not a huge fan of lemonade.

The iPhone Burger ($12.45) has boursin cheese, grilled mushrooms & onions. It comes with a side of sweet potato fries. You are able to choose how you would like your burger done! CanuckGirl decided to have her burger medium rare. It was spot on! The sweet potato fries were delicious too.

The Guy Fieri Burger ($10.15) has Muenster cheese, tomato, lettuce, red onion, and russian dressing. It comes with french fries and a pickle. There’s nothing too amazing about it. I got my burger medium well done. The fries tasted alright. I did enjoy their patties!

Overall, their specialty burgers are what lures most tourists, but whats interesting is that their regular type of burgers are way cheaper. I would recommend you to stick with their regular menu. Their burgers are definitely good, but I would not say it’s the best .

Words of Wisdom:

  • Lines long at peak hours, but seats become available quite quickly
  • Service is quite mediocre
  • Around $10 – $15 for lunch

Schwartz’s Deli is an iconic restaurant in Montreal and is known to have huge lines! As I was in Montreal, I knew I had to have a taste of their smoked meat. People around the world have been raving about this place, so I had to see for myself if it lives up to all that hype. PLUS, Celine Dion and her husband own a portion of this restaurant.

As I left CanuckGirl to hike up Mount Royal by herself, I headed over to Schwartz’s. Exercising is good and all, but I can exercise in Vancouver too. I know, I’m horrible…I just love food.

There was a huge line outside and it would probably take 30 mins to an hour to get a seat. I decided to bypass the line by ordering takeout. If you do get takeout, you just walk through the door and no one in the line should bother you.

The restaurant is very narrow so no wonder they can’t fit too many people here. For takeout, just walk up to the right of the restaurant and order, then pay on the left side of the restaurant near the door.

I got my sandwich and found a park to eat at, I was sad that the sandwich was so small. FYI, when eating at a park, you will probably attract a few birds and squirrels….so guard your sandwich.

Mmm… look at that meat.

The meat was very thickly cut, fatty and very tender! The cross-section of the sandwich does look quite amazing, but it’s still not that large of a sandwich. Since it was only $6.15, it was a decent price. I have never seen any other restaurant have such thickly cut smoked meat. Any smoked meat needs mustard, but it sucks how it had to be the usual yellow mustard.

Overall, I loved it and I would go again just for their meat. If you have no patience for lining up and just want that sandwich fast, do takeout and you will save yourself lots of time.

Words of Wisdom:

  • A must-go spot for tourists
  • Under $10
  • Long lines
  • Must get the smoked meat

In the Annex of Toronto, I saw Insomnia Cafe and it seemed like a super cool place to have food. It’s quite popular for brunch, but I didn’t have time to have brunch here, so I opted for dinner.

CanuckGirl, BaguetteGirl and I headed over for dinner.

There is a good amount of seating and some lounge seating in the back of the restaurant.

The front of the restaurant looks great and is most beautiful during the summer as they open the doors and windows.

Proscuitto Wrapped Asparagus ($10) is garnished with asiago cheese and a honey pear vinaigrette and tomatoes. It tasted good, but not justified for $10! I would not order this again. Very disappointed.

Avocado Grilled Chicken ($10) has melted brie and red onions on top of the bread. You also get a side of fries and salad. CanuckGirl enjoyed it!

8oz. Black Angus Beef Burger ($9) has lettuce, red onion, tomato and garlic aioli. You can also add additional ingredients on top too. BaguetteGirl added mozzarella and sauteed onions on top. It also comes with the fries and salad.

Quesadilla ($9) contains house made refried beans, avocado spread and monterey jack cheese. You also get some mayo and sour cream to dip the quesadillas into. Just like the other dishes, you get the fries and salad too. I thought it was ok, but wasn’t anything amazing.

Overall, Insomnia Cafe was ok for sandwiches, but their dinner and appetizer menu is a bit overpriced for what you get. It’s a good place for drinks and late night chillaxing.

Buster’s Sea Cove in the St. Lawrence Market in Toronto is very very popular and there are always long lines on Saturdays. Even though the line is quite long looking, the staff are very efficient, so it shouldn’t take too long to order and then receive your items.

BaguetteGirl, CanuckGirl, Fabo and I went here to eat lunch since we heard the fish sandwiches were to die for. Plus, there was a long lineup, so there must be a reason why they were there.

New England Clam Chowder (S- $3.80) comes with a small cup of goldfish crackers. CanuckGirl thought it was good but not very creamy.

Calamari & Salad ($9.95) was actually just a box of calamari and then a box of salad. The calamari tasted fresh, but it wasn’t very crispy. It comes with a marinara type of sauce. The salad was pretty usual but it does come with a balsamic vinegar.

Shrimp in Rose & Herb Sauce ($11.95) comes with a bed of basmati rice and slaw. Fabo enjoyed the size and freshness of the shrimp.

Grilled Salmon Sandwich ($8.95) comes with a side of slaw. BaguetteGirls usual orders the sandwiches at Busters.

I stole a bit of BaguetteGirl’s sandwich and the salmon was so tender and perfectly done! I usually hate cooked salmon, but it was just so moist and delicious.

Overall, the seafood tasted very fresh and is a great place to go for a good lunch at the St. Lawrence Market. Definitely a go-to place if you visit the market!

Soup Plus is a little mom and pop restaurant in Coquitlam that sells sandwiches and soups. They attract mostly people in the area and aren’t well known outside of Coquitlam. I have passed by several times, but it is quite easy to miss.

One of my Twitter followers – Viola (@vyqchen) suggested I try out Soup Plus and recommended a few items to order. Since M wanted lunch, I thought we could try out Soup Plus and order the items Viola suggested.

Mushroom Soup (~$3) is very delicious and it is not even comparable to Campbells canned mushroom soups. It has tons of mushrooms and isn’t too creamy at all. I finished this bowl of soup pretty fast. I’m actually craving another bowl right now as I type this.

They have about 5 freshly made soups everyday, but I heard the mushroom soup is the most popular.

Louisiana Poor Boy Sandwich (~$5) has lettuce, tomatoes, pepper and meat covered in BBQ sauce between freshly made house bread. This was our favorite sandwich, the meat was tender and has a subtly spicy taste to it. In a way it reminded me of a sloppy joe.

Meatloaf sub (~$5) has tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce, pepper and slices of meatloaf in between house bread. The meatloaf is delicious on its own, but when you eat it with everything else in the sandwich, it takes away from it’s taste and texture.

Overall, we loved the mushroom soup and the Louisiana Poor Boy Sandwich! Definitely take a visit for lunch if you are in the area. It’s a nice little family owned restaurant that has something delicious to offer. The service was good, but for some reason they wouldn’t let us tip them. I still have no idea why!

Burger Heaven is located in New Westminster and of course they specialize in burgers. They are known for their crazy and creative sandwiches. The interior is quite ugly and super outdated, but their sandwiches is what their customers rave about.

M and I decided to come here for lunch since we don’t live too far away from New West.

Insanity Burger ($16.14) is a swiss & bacon burger between two grilled mozza & cheddar cheese sandwiches with lettuce, tomato, red onions and sauce. You get your choice of salad or potato wedges as your side.

This sandwich is quite massive. I am also sure the calorie count is through the roof. M liked their large juicy patties, but it didn’t mesh too well with the two grilled cheese. He said the grilled cheese was quite bland and the cheese isn’t sharp enough.

Either way, it’s still a super huge sandwich and it’s definitely a challenge to eat.

The potato wedges were very crispy and golden brown. I love them more than Mcdonald’s fries.

Breakfast Burger ($13.69) is the 9th most popular item that is ordered. It contains a beef patty, mozzarella, fried egg, bacon and vegetables. I got a salad on the side since I felt guilty.

You can’t go wrong with bacon, cheese and egg in a burger! Plus, the bacon looked very delicious. The whole burger isn’t exactly breakfast food, but these are the perfect ingredients in a burger!

Once you put the two halfs together, the burger is huge. The beef patty is phenomenal! One this that M and I could agree on was the beef patty is really really good. I loved my sandwich!

You also get some tabasco if you want to spice up your burger!

Overall, I thought the sandwiches were good, but it can get quite expensive if you get more of their specialty burgers. I went at lunch and it wasn’t too busy, but I hear it can get packed for dinner. The interior is basically a shack, so don’t be too turned off by the place until you have had a bite.

Between Two Buns is another sandwich shop that has opened up in Yaletown. All their sandwiches have very provocative names. Just think very pervertedly and you’ll know what I mean. The interior of the restaurant is very open, but doesn’t have too many seats, but it’s good if you do takeout.

LazySusan, KevKev,  LiLi and I went before a school event to check out the place and grab some lunch. It was around noon and most of the tables were taken up.

All their items are around the $10 range. Their menu is small but you should be able to find something that suits your taste buds.

Poutine Special ($9) has cajun fries topped with seared tuna, avocado sauce, whole runny egg, and green onions.

This is a pretty awesome poutine since it’s quite hearty and it adds a bit of kick due to the sauces and hot spices. It’s not too hot, but is bearable.

Half Maniac Sandwich with side of fries and gravy ($9 +$1)

The Maniac sandwich has double smoked bacon, baby arugula, spicy marinara, asiago cheese, roasted garlic parmesan aoli, and an oven roasted tomato. I thought the sandwich tasted ok, but I felt like flavours could have stood out a bit more.

The fries and gravy were ok as well. The gravy is made from scratch so it is not very salty, but it didn’t have very much flavour to it.

This is the maniac sandwich in it’s full size.

Overall, the sandwiches are ok, but definitely not the best.  As there are more and more sandwich shops opening up in Downtown, there is definitely some competition. I am sure they will perfect their menu and try new flavour combinations.

Catch 122 is a new restaurant that has opened up on Hastings Street in front of SFU Woodwards. They serve brunch on the weekends as well as breakfast and lunch on weekdays. As of May 2nd, they will be serving dinner! They are best known for their simple and delicious comfort food.

After a brunch experience, I came back with my coworkers on several occasions to have lunch at Catch 122. It was close to the office and they had enough space to accommodate us all.

Latte ($3.75) was good and needed especially when you need an extra boost of energy in the day.

Roasted Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese ($12) has a special Catch 122 BBQ sauce, caramelized red onion, coleslaw and Havarti cheese in a grilled panini. You get a side of fries, soup or salad. MeatLover chose their daily soup – creamy mushroom. She did enjoy it as well.

On another occasion, DesignGuru had the same item and it seemed quite consistent with the other visit. She enjoyed it and saw it as an awesome comfort food thats just perfect for lunch. It’s cheesy and meaty!

Duck Confit Sandwich ($11.95) has Yarrow Meadows duck leg confit, French dijon mustard, and arugula in a fresh-baked baguette. I chose the salad as my side. The baguette is nicely toasted, so when you bit into it, the sandwich makes a lovely “crunch” noise. The duck was tender and had lots of flavour.

My other coworker got the same sandwich, but with fries. She said the fries were pretty good.

British style Roasted Beef ($11.50) has slow roasted beef chuck roll, sauté mushroom, Swiss cheese, and horseradish cream in a grilled panini. I again got salad on the side. The horseradish cream was subtle, so it was not too overpowering. All the ingredients did go great together.

Salad Nicoise with Albacore tuna was one of their comfort food items for the day. It’s not on their regular menu as it was a featured item for that specific day. There are a bunch of ingredients on this salad with vibrant colors. DogLover said it tasted very good. The only turn off was the weird looking anchovy on top, it looked like a slug.

Spaghetti with spanish chorizo and tiger prawns in a tomato basil sauce ($14.50) was another comfort food of the day. MeatLover and DoubleL ordered this. They said it tasted good.

Chausson Pomme ($3.50) was an item we accidentally ordered, but it essentially tasted like an apple pie.

Overall, the lunch menu mostly has sandwiches, but they are some pretty delicious sandwiches. I’ve been here to lunch twice and it’s become one of my favorite places to eat! They have lots of seats inside and can accommodate big groups if you call ahead of time.

Pourhouse Restaurant in Gastown has a good lunch deal for $14, where you get a sandwich, a beer and a side. Since it does come with beer, the price isn’t too bad.

Mandu, KoreanGirl and Jojocake came here for lunch on a weekday, but once we sat down, we really didn’t want beer since we will had some work to do in the afternoon. It would have been awkward smelling like beer in the office. Pourhouse gives you the option of having other drinks instead.

Cappuccino was just what Jojocake needed. She thought it was alright, but the temperature definitely could have been hotter.

Macchiato is what Mandu needed. Similar to Jojocake, her coffee was just lukewarm and not hot.

Tea is what KoreanGirl and I needed. The tea was a good temperature and the tea cups came warmed too.

Pulled Pork Sandwich with Cream of Cauliflower Soup. This is what everyone else at the table ordered. The pulled pork sandwich has pulled pork, BBQ sauce, aged cheddar and slaw. They thought it was bit small at first, but when they had everything, they were all full.

Portobello Sandwich with Cream of Cauliflower Soup. It has bits of portobello mushroom, garlic aioli, and asiago. It was #meatlessmonday, so I had to choose this option.

I thought the soup was a bit rich, but it did have a good strong flavour of the cauliflower.

Since I do love mushrooms, I did enjoy this sandwich a lot. The portobello mushroom had a great taste that went well with the other ingredients.

Overall, it was a good lunch deal since it came with beer, but the service was very slow. If you are short on time for lunch, best not to dine here since you will be late. It took us about 1.5 hrs to dine here. If you do have a bit more time, it’s a good option if you are craving some beer.

Words of Wisdom:

  • Slow service
  • Luke warm coffee isn’t good…ask for hotter
  • Good sandwiches
  • Good lunch deal

I finally let M choose a place to eat and he takes me to Red Robins. Very original isn’t it? Can you hear my sarcasm? Red Robins is a chain restaurant that specializes in burgers.

We walk inside and find the hostess area empty and it takes them a while for them to come and lead us to a table. The host really didn’t seem like he enjoyed his job or wanted to be there. The server at our table was much happier and cheerier to serve us.

The interior has lots of space!

Freckled Lemonade ($4.29) has lemonade and sweet strawberries. It’s bottomless, so you can switch between different flavours if you decide you don’t like a certain one.

Very Berry Raspberry Limeade ($4.29) is also bottomless. It wasn’t as good as the freckled lemonade, so M switched back to the Freckled Lemonade. He didn’t need to pay anything extra.

One Great Ham-Bacon-Cheese n’ Chicken Burger ($11.69) has grilled chicken breast, black forest ham, bacon, cheddar cheese, tomatoes, pickles, and mayo.

I thought it was alright, it filled me up, but it wasn’t super amazing or anything.

5 Alarm Burger ($11.29) has pepper jack cheese, jalapenos salsa, lettuce, tomatoes, chipotle mayo sauce and of course the beef patty. M thought it was an OK burger, but it did have a nice kick of heat.

Bottomless fries comes with every burger unless you substitute them for something else. They are ok fries. Its good if you put the Red Robins Seasoning on it.

Overall, I would say its good for getting burgers here. They aren’t the fanciest burgers, but they do the trick to get you full.

Words of Wisdom:

  • Large amount of seating, good for b-day parties ( reservation is recommended)
  • Burgers are best
  • Lots of parking
  • Free dessert for Birthday and they sing you songs!
