Gooseneck Hospitality is gearing up for the imminent launch of two of its popular concepts, the Italian-inspired pizzeria Bufala (3489 Sawmill Crescent) and taqueria-style Lucky Taco (8547 River District Crossing), in South Vancouver’s growing River District community. The highly-anticipated sister restaurants are aiming to open by late spring/early summer in an area quickly becoming a top culinary destination in the region.

At 3,300 square feet, Bufala River District will feature 80 seats inside with 45 forthcoming to an expansive outdoor patio. Next door, the Lucky Taco River District 1,050 square foot space will include 30 seats inside and 25 more to-come on the patio. Both venues are being designed by award-winning firm St. Marie Studio.

“When we were looking at opening another Bufala and Lucky Taco in Metro Vancouver, the one major criteria was they had to be located in a friendly, family-oriented community, similar to their current locations, and certainly River District meets that and more,” says James Iranzad, Partner, Gooseneck Hospitality. “It’s been great seeing the growth of this waterfront area and the curious attention by the neighbourhood so far. Both Bufala and Lucky Taco River District River will have their own unique charm and exclusive offerings.”

Menu-wise, Bufala River District will follow the same format as its North Vancouver location in Edgemont Village – from scratch-made classic and contemporary Neapolitan-style pizzas and pastas, to Italian-inspired small plates, mains, and a variety of desserts. On the beverage side, guests will have a wide selection of cocktails, wines, craft beers, and of course, espresso.

At Lucky Taco River District, the Mexican-style cantina will serve guests a delicious menu of dishes they are known for – tacos with fresh and local ingredients, small plates, nachos, grilled street corn, margaritas, and a diverse library of tequila and mezcal.

For the design, Bufala’s room will enjoy an airy but intimate ambience featuring booth seating, an open kitchen with Woodstone oven, warm lighting, and its piece de resistance – a beautiful bar with a large marble slab countertop and light installation centrepiece.

Guests can expect an indoor/outdoor bar experience at Lucky Taco with large palapas, lush greenery, neon colours, and a soon-to-come hand-painted mural.

“Everything’s coming together for both Bufala and Lucky Taco,” adds Iranzad. “We’re excited to unveil the two concepts in River District, and we look forward to welcoming everyone once we open soon.”
