On September 21, 2024 at Heritage Hall, celebrate the diverse terroirs and rich traditions of Portugal at the third annual Vinícola Portugal. Founded by hospitality veteran and sommelier Justin Isidro, the boutique wine festival invites guests on a tasting journey of 70 meticulously selected wines, showcasing the best from the North to the South of Portugal. Tickets are $65+ and on-sale now online.

“I started Vinícola Portugal in 2022 as a heartfelt ode and love letter to Portugueses wine,” says Isidro, who is also general manager at Vancouver’s one Michelin star Kissa Tanto. “The event is about more than just the tasting – it’s about experiencing the history, culture, and passion that go into every bottle of Portuguese wine. I want people to leave this festival with a deeper appreciation for the craft and a newfound love for the wines of Portugal.”

Isidro’s love for Portugal runs deep, shaped by his years as a professional soccer player living in the country. It was during this time that he also discovered his passion for the hospitality industry and immersed himself in the beautiful food and wine culture of Portugal.

During the event, guests will have the opportunity to experience the depth of Portuguese wines, from the bold reds of the Douro Valley to the crisp whites of Vinho Verde, all while engaging with producers and learning about the unique stories behind each bottle. There will also be a Snack Bar by Arc Iberico, featuring delicious bites such as an assortment of Iberian cured meats and other eclectic snacks.

Wineries this year includes: Soalheiro, Luis Seabra, Lua Cheia, Symington, Graham’s, Quinta da Foz, Niepoort, Mateus Nicolau de Almeida, Casa Ferreirinha, Sanguinhal, ODE Winery, Quinta da Costa do Pinhão, Geographic Wines, Boutique Portugal Wines, Marcio Lopes, Pedra Cancela, Herdade do Rocim, Bojador, Cartuxa, Fita Preta, Esporão, and Hugo Mendes.

After the tastings, attendees can bring some of their favourites home, courtesy of an exclusive pop-up wine shop on-site by Sutton Place Wine Merchants.

“Portugal’s vinous landscape yields an array of exquisite grapes, each contributing to a tapestry of extraordinary wines. For those familiar, I look forward to expanding their Portuguese wine repertoire. For those who are unfamiliar, I look forward to introducing them to Portuguese wines,” adds Isidro.
