BobaGrizz returns to Vancouver Chinatown’s Foo Hung Curios

Chinatown Storytelling Centre’s Foo Hung Curios (168 E Pender Street) is once again bringing back its popular BobaGrizz Capsule Collection collaboration with Mitchell & Ness and Canadian non-profit Canadian Chinese Youth Athletic Association (CCYAA) on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at 10 a.m. The special, limited-edition drop is in celebration of award-winning filmmaker Kat Jayme’s upcoming documentary, The Grizzlie Truth, premiering next month at the Vancouver International Film Festival.

In addition, Canadian boba tea shop The Alley will be on-site to handout complimentary bubble tea for everyone who purchases an item from the drop. The Alley is renowned for its high-quality tea selection and beverage aesthetics, as well as house-made sugar cane syrup and Deerioca – a cute play on the brand’s deer image and the word tapioca. Customers will receive its fan-favourite Royal No. 9 Milk Tea, pre-roasted with fresh blueberries and known for its signature multi-layer aroma and depth.

“It’s been wonderful seeing the incredible reception the BobaGrizz Capsule Collection has received thus far,” says Carol Lee, chair of the Vancouver Chinatown Foundation. “The CCYAA, Mitchell & Ness, and Kat Jayme have been great supporters and collaborators of the Vancouver Chinatown Foundation and Foo Hung Curios, and we are excited to bring back the BobaGrizz items, along with a couple surprises.”

Available in-person at Foo Hung Curios on Sunday, September 25, 2022 starting at 10 a.m., fans will be able to get their hands on a full BobaGrizz Capsule Collection, featuring: BobaGrizz t-shirts ($43) in black, grey, and brand new, Grizzlie’s trademark teal; and BobaGrizz hoodies ($105) in black and grey. There will also be a small drop of the CCYAA’s popular Boba Raptor embroidered crewneck ($128) available. Customers are limited to three items per person, including one Boba Raptor crewneck.

During the event, Jayme will have a The Grizzlie Truth table in the Chinatown Storytelling Centre’s lobby, where guests can meet her, ask questions about her new documentary, and purchase The Grizzlie Truth merchandise. In addition, customers who purchase BobaGrizz items will be automatically entered to win a pair of tickets to The Grizzlie Truth premiere on October 1, 2022.

“BobaGrizz has reignited the city’s love for the Vancouver Grizzlies, and I couldn’t be happier for people to rediscover their love for the team and for those to learn more about the city’s first and only NBA franchise,” adds Jayme.

The Grizzlie Truth explores Jayme’s journey as a Vancouver Grizzlies superfan. To die-hard fans of NBA franchise, the Vancouver Grizzlies and the team’s abrupt move to Memphis in 2001 is much more than a sore spot, it’s an unsolved mystery and possibly a criminal conspiracy. What begins as a superfan’s (Jayme’s) investigation into her hometown team’s disappearance, becomes a love letter to the worst professional sports franchise in history, and an exploration of the deep roots of fandom.
