The Flying Pig: Introducing ‘Super Baked’ a menu of small bites, deep dish pizza, late-night libations and more

The Flying Pig is lighting up the night by dropping a ‘Super Baked’ menu of small bites, deep dish pizza, late-night libations and more available exclusively for dine-in service at its Olympic Village location (127 W. 2nd Ave.)

The new menu is an offshoot of the popular ‘Super Baked Deep Dish’ take-out pizza project the chain operated under the auspices of ghost kitchens at several locations during the pandemic when restaurants were negotiating capacity restrictions and closures.

Available every night from 9 p.m. to close and all-day from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays, the new menu offers two-buck-a-shuck oysters (min. six per order) from the East and West Coast cracked by award-winning shucker supreme Andrew Smith as well as hearty, hand-made, hunker-down fare like:

  • Jumbo Mac + Cheese (four cheese cream sauce), $10.50;
  • PEI Mussels + Frites (white wine & herb broth), $12.50;
  • BBQ Glazed Chicken Wings (Sriracha BBQ sauce, crisp celery, creamy ranch dip), $12.50;
  • ·      Organic Beet + Arugula Salad (candied walnuts, pears, crumbled goat cheese), $10.75;
  • Parmesan Truffle Fries (Parmesan, truffle oil, garlic aioli), $9.50;
  • Braised Meatballs (tomato fondue, grilled focaccia), $12.50;
  • Bison Carpaccio (shaved Parmesan, pickled shallot, fried capers), $12.75;
  • Pulled Pork Sandwiches (slow-braised pork, coleslaw), $9;
  • Classic Poutine (hand-cut fries, gravy, cheese curds), $10.50;
  • Salmon Cakes (wild BC salmon, pickle & dill dipping sauce), $9;
  • The ‘Bodacious’ Deep Dish (pepperoni, shaved ham, banana peppers, grilled pineapple, mozzarella + Provolone, marinara), $15;
  • The ‘Mushroom Magic’ Deep Dish (portobello, button + oyster mushrooms, walnut and arugula pesto, whipped cream cheese, white cheddar, mozzarella + Provolone), $14;
  • The ‘Italian Stallion’ Deep Dish (Italian fennel sausage, potato, pickled onions, Kalamata olives, tomatoes, white cheddar, mozzarella + Provolone), $15;
  • Smash Cheeseburger (pressed AAA beef, crispy cheddar, shaved lettuce, tomato, red relish mayo), $15;
  • Monster Burger (‘fully loaded’ pressed AAA beef, BBQ pulled pork, onion rings), $18;
  • Blackened Chicken Burger (white cheddar cheese, shaved lettuce, tomato, red relish mayo), $15.

The late-night lineup also includes lip-smacking libations such as sleeves of Red Truck Lager or Amber Aleor a selection of 1oz highballs for $5.75, 5oz glasses of Red Rooster Pinot Gris or Merlot ($6.50), Boutinot ‘Les Coteaux’ Grenache/Syrah or Narrative Sparkling Rosé ($8.50) and house cocktails such as the Jungle Boogie (Flor de Caña, bitter bianco amaretto, pineapple, guava soda, $8), Spicy Margarita(traditional blanco, strawberry, lime habanero tincture, $8.50) and Starlino Spritz (Hotel Starlino aperitivo, sweet vermouth, prosecco, melon bitters, $8.75).
