Tourism Richmond launches the Pacific. Authentic. Pop-up Picnic Areas

This summer, Tourism Richmond launched the Pacific. Authentic. Pop-up Picnic Areas to provide an inviting space for people to dine outside in locations close to restaurants. There are a total of 31 picnic tables in the seven picnic areas in Central Richmond and Steveston Village:

  • Aberdeen Centre
  • Lansdowne Centre (two locations)
  • CF Richmond Centre
  • Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site
  • Steveston Town Square Park (next to the Post Office)
  • Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site

To create a unique sense of space, the picnic tables have been designed to reflect the award-winning Pacific. Authentic. Richmond BC brand. Tourism Richmond worked with local Richmond artists to create limited edition tables for each area. These tables illustrate what makes Richmond so special; each design highlights the multi-cultural and dynamic nature of the city.

“Richmond is known for its strong culinary scene – people travel here from all over the world just to eat. Having picnic tables and outdoor gathering spaces available makes it easier for everyone to support our amazing restaurants this summer. We are thrilled to be partnering with local artists to bring our city to life through artist’s work,” said Nancy Small, chief executive officer of Tourism Richmond.

“We’re excited to once again be actively working with Tourism Richmond to find creative ways to engage with the community,” said Todd Gross, director of parks for the City of Richmond. “The pop-up picnic areas provide a wonderful way to support local business and artists and promote outdoor gatherings.”

The picnic tables will be available for use until September. We encourage residents and visitors to order take-out and enjoy their meals at the picnic areas.
