12th Richmond Annual Garlic Festival on Aug 14

A popular community festival is returning to Richmond this summer. On August 14th, from 10am-3pm the Sharing Farm is hosting the 12th Annual Richmond Garlic Fest in the award-winning Terra Nova Rural
Park!

The Sharing Farm will have over 1,000 pounds of their garlic for sale, featuring two hardneck varieties,
Red Russian and Music, and an Italian softneck. The festival will feature native birds of prey flight
demonstrations, with expert bird handlers educating and entertaining the crowd. These birds will
perform a number of flying maneuvers, acrobatic, speed and dexterity drills throughout the day.
The Richmond Garlic Fest showcases sustainable agriculture and locally-grown produce and brings
attention to issues of food security in our community.

Alongside many garlic-enhanced dishes for purchase from local food trucks and unique garlic ice cream,
the festival will feature live music, a large selection of produce and artisanal crafts, various raptor
education exhibitors and a celebrated children’s activity area.

Workshops throughout the day will include garlic growing, practical farming equipment, identifying
native bees, and a native plant talk with Lori Snyder.

Admission to the festival is by donation and is suitable for all ages. Limited parking is available. A bike
valet service will be available in a securely guarded area near the festival entrance, so consider cycling or
taking transit to this event. All proceeds from the festival go to supporting the Sharing Farm in its mission
to provide fresh, healthy, sustainably grown produce to community members facing food insecurity.
