Starbucks Canada: Sous Vide Egg Bites Review

Starbucks Canada launched the Sous Vide Egg Bites – perfectly cooked, cage-free eggs prepared using the French “sous vide” technique resulting in a creamy, velvety texture that’s bursting with flavour. They do resemble hockey pucks, but are delicious. They were released in the United States a while ago and got quite a cult following for how yummy they are. Sous Vide Egg Bites are available all day long on the menu for $4.75.

If you are on a restricted diet like – Gluten-free, Low Carb, Paleo, Keto, or Vegetarian, these Sous Vide Egg Bites are options compared to their other breakfast items.

Bacon and Gruyere

This is wheat-free and is a delight, even when you’re on-the-go. Trust me, Canadians are so excited to have these without traveling to the US.

There is aged Gruyere and Monterey Jack cheese, and topped them with Applewood smoked bacon for a delicious, high protein, convenient breakfast. Two Bacon and Gruyere bites have 310 calories and 19 grams of protein. This was my favourite of the two flavours because the bacon and gruyere work so together so well. I wanted more. The texture was spongey and soft.

Egg White and Roasted Red Pepper

This is also wheat-free, as well as Vegetarian. There is creamy Monterey Jack cheese, plus spinach and fire-roasted red peppers for a high-protein vegetarian breakfast that’s delicious and convenient. The two Egg White and Roasted Red Pepper bites have 170 calories and 13 grams of protein. If you’re looking for a cleaner taste, this is equally as good if you aren’t into the smokey flavour of the Bacon and Gruyere.

Final Thoughts

No doubt about it, I would order these again in the morning. I was pleasantly surprised and would choose these as my go to.
