O.N.E. Coconut Water: Rehydrate for the Summer

ONE-coconut-water

Coconut water has become quite popular over the past few years for it’s natural rehydrating properties. It is high in magnesium and potassium to quickly replenish your body. But for prolonged exercise, I think they body needs carbohydrates and sodium according to my biology classes in high school.

O.N.E. Coconut Water is one of the brands in several stores right now.

M and I were quite torn about their Plain Coconut Water. I didn’t like it because of its strange taste that didn’t seem to resemble coconut. M on the other hand liked it. We both couldn’t figure out why we had such differing opinions. Personal preference I suppose?

They just released two new flavours – Mango and Pineapple. They Also have  Pink Guava flavour but I didn’t try it this time.

Pineapple Coconut Water kinda tasted like Pina Colada because of the coconut and pineapple. The flavour was subtle and worked well together.

Mango Coconut Water was ok, but M felt it was a little too sugary. They do add sugar to the flavoured drinks, so that explains the sweetness. The Mango coconut water is flavoured with mango puree, so perhaps more sugar there too?

Drinking coconut water is refreshing, but it’s still not the same as having a Young Thai Coconut. When you compare it to drinking the young green coconuts that are bottled, it’s definitely not the same taste.

What are your thoughts on Coconut Water?

  1. Ick, avoid at all costs! It’s owned by Pepsi. You will have better luck just getting a coconut from the grocery store.

  2. It’s a good way to keep hydrate if you are sick of drinking water. I love a nice bottle after going to the gym.

  3. This stuff is overrated. I got a free one to try when I was walking by a Canada Line station. I prefer regular tap water.
