La Mezcaleria has been on Commercial Drive now for quite a few years as a Mexican Cantina. For brunch they infuse traditional Mexican flavours with West Coast influence. When I think of La Mezcaleria, I never thought they had brunch. It was surprising, so M and I decided to check it out.
We were on our way next door to go to the wine store, but could help gravitate in here to grab a bite.
Horchata is a traditional non-alcoholic drink made out of almonds, sesame seeds, rice and barley. M always orders horchata at Mexican restaurants and just loves it.
Almon Con Tequila has toasted english muffin topped with tequila and citrus cured salmon, two poached eggs and chipotle hollandaise. Served with seasonal greens and hashbrowns. The hashbrowns were amazing and super crisp! The salmon is also Oceanwise. The whole dish was delicious and well balanced. The poached egg was perfectly soft.
They also gave a us a few sauces with our meal.
Overall, the brunch was great and I would highly recommend it. I’m glad we stopped here for brunch since it was totally unplanned.
