If you are in Downtown during the winter holidays, stop by the Hyatt Regency Vancouver to check out their Gingerbread Lane. It’s located right in the heart of Downtown and easily accessible from the Burrard Skytrain.

The gigantic centerpiece of Gingerbread Lane shows a building measuring 11 feet tall and 16 feet wide, using 500 pounds of gingerbread dough, 400 pounds of confectioners’ sugar and 1,400 egg whites. You can also see the Gastown Steam Clock in Gingerbread form.

With the real Gastown Steam Clock under repair at the moment, this is as close as you will get to the real thing.

The display runs in their lobby from Wednesday, December 3, 2014 through Thursday, January 1st, 2015.

Local schools, culinary professionals and amateurs alike have contributed more than 30 individually crafted gingerbread creations, rounding out the sugary lavish displays.

It’s free to enter and there’s really some outstanding gingerbread buildings. This event supports and raises tens of thousands of dollars for Make-A-Wish Foundation in BC & the Yukon.
